DESCRIPTION:
(from Viaplay US's press release, October 2024) Called "The most irresistible incarnation yet" (The Guardian), the English-language series Rebus aired in the UK this summer on BBC One to rave reviews and more than 10 million streams on BBC iPlayer. Set in Edinburgh, the crime thriller reimagines the iconic character John Rebus as a younger Detective Sergeant, drawn into a violent criminal conflict that turns personal when his brother Michael, a former soldier, crosses the line into criminality. Rebus finds himself torn between protecting his brother and enforcing the law to bring Michael to justice. Rebus offers a fresh interpretation of the beloved character from Sir Ian Rankin's acclaimed detective novels, which have sold more than 30 million copies and been translated into 36 languages. Produced by Eleventh Hour Films for Viaplay, the six-part series is written by the award-winning Gregory Burke ('71) and is skillfully directed by BAFTA-winner Niall MacCormick (Complicit, The Victim) and Fiona Walton (Shetland, London Kills). |
