DESCRIPTION:
(from HBO's press release) In the spring of 2005, just as his career was taking off, comedian Dane Cook invited three fellow comics to join him on a sold-out stand-up tour across the U.S. With camera crews in tow capturing their public and private moments, the four traveled by bus to perform at 20 college campuses in 30 days. They faced cramped quarters, frequent misunderstandings, and a plethora of porno stories that get them past their differences to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime journey none will forget. The result is Dane Cook's Tourgasm, a close encounters, behind-the-scenes documentary series that looks at what it's like to be four friends at different stages of their careers in the comedy business. Sharing the spotlight on stage and off are Gary Gulman (a veteran of Last Comic Standing), Jay Davis (who also serves as show emcee) and Robert Kelly. Each episode finds them at a different destination, working out new material, taking the stage, hitting the town, and retiring to their Tourgasm bus to do it all again. Ball-busting and practical jokes abound, as does a surprising amount of serious soul-searching and reflection. |
