BBC AMERICA RELEASES FIRST-LOOK SCENE FROM "THE LAST KINGDOM"
Series Premiere this Saturday, October 10 at 10:00PM ET
Today, BBC AMERICA revealed an intense first-look scene and a pivotal moment from this Saturday's series premiere of the network's new original drama, The Last Kingdom. In the clip, Young Uhtred (Tom Taylor) witnesses his father, Lord Uhtred (Matthew Macfadyen), killed in battle as the Saxon army faces defeat; he then goes head-to-head with the infamous Danish warlord, Earl Ragnar (a man he will one day see as his true father). These events completely change Uhtred's fate, and ultimately set him forth on his life's mission.
Adapted from Bernard Cornwell's bestselling series of books, "The Saxon Stories," The Last Kingdom comes from the award-winning executive producers of Downton Abbey and is a contemporary story of redemption, vengeance and self-discovery set against the birth of England. The eight part drama follows young warrior and outsider, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), on a fierce mission to reclaim his birthright, while re-telling the history of King Alfred the Great (David Dawson) and his desire to unite the many separate kingdoms into what would become England. The Last Kingdom premieres Saturday, October 10, 10:00pm ET on BBC AMERICA.
