TRAILER & KEY ART: "GRIMCUTTY" TO TERRIFY TEENS ON OCTOBER 10 FOR HULUWEEN
First Feature-Length Film from 20th Digital Studio &
Hulu Originals Horror Slate
September 14, 2022 (Santa Monica, CA) - Today, 20th Digital Studio and Hulu premiered the trailer for "Grimcutty," a horror feature film debuting October 10 as part of the streamer's annual Huluween celebration. The teen tech horror/thriller is the first in a slate of nine feature-length films developed and expanded from 20th Digital's short film collection "Bite Size Halloween." "Grimcutty" will have its World Premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on October 6.
Directed and written by John William Ross ("The Birch"), "Grimcutty" follows a suburban teen girl (newcomer Sara Wolfkind) and her little brother (Callan Farris, "Gabby Duran & the Unsittables") who must stop a terrifying internet meme brought to life by the hysteria of their parents, played by Usman Ally ("VEEP," "A Series of Unfortunate Events") and Shannyn Sossamon ("Wayward Pines," "Sleepy Hollow"). Alona Tal ("SEAL Team") also stars, as a mother whose son (Kayden Koshalev, "Search Party," "The Tragedy of Macbeth") is affected by the memetic monster.
Ross previously created the short horror film "Gregory," which premiered on Hulu in 2020 in the first season of 20th Digital's "Bite Size Halloween." "Grimcutty" is a successor both in the aesthetic of the two titular creatures and in themes of mass hysteria, technology, and social dynamics.
"Grimcutty" was developed by 20th Digital Studio with David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle serving as executive producers. Production services were carried out by producers Dawn Fanning Moore and David Moore through their production company Capture.
Season three of "Bite Size Halloween" is available on Hulu on October 1, 2022 with 20 new horror and sci-fi shorts from emerging filmmakers. Another feature, "Matriarch," from UK writer/director Ben Steiner, will premiere on October 21. Hulu previously announced that the nine-film slate with 20th Digital will include the upcoming "Clock" from Alexis Jacknow, and "Appendage" from Anna Zlokovic, among others.
