ACORN TV RELEASES OFFICIAL TRAILER AND KEY ART FOR NEW SEASON OF HIT DETECTIVE DRAMA, "SIGNORA VOLPE"
Led by star Emilia Fox, Season Two is Set to Premiere on Monday, July 29 on Acorn TV with a Co-Premiere on BBC America
NEW YORK - July 9, 2024 - Acorn TV today revealed an all-new official trailer and key art for season two of its popular detective drama series Signora Volpe. The three-part series will return for its second season on Monday, July 29 on Acorn TV with a co-premiere on BBC America. Star Emilia Fox (Silent Witness, Delicious, The Pianist) will once again reprise her role as disillusioned British spy Sylvia Fox as she finds herself starting a new, quiet life in the Italian countryside, only to have a local case of murder and blackmail lure her back into investigative work.
As a high-ranking British spy, Sylvia's physical prowess, investigative skills, surveillance expertise, and proficiency as a markswoman have made her exceptional at solving mysteries. At the end of season one, having fallen in love with Italy and re-established bonds with her sister Isabel (Tara Fitzgerald - Game of Thrones, Belgravia), Sylvia decided to resign from her job at MI6 and start a new life in Umbria. But old habits die hard, and though Sylvia might have left her job at MI6 behind, her unique skill set and appetite for solving mysteries remain undiminished. Over the course of season two, she finds herself investigating the murder of a pillar of the local community, and going undercover for MI6 at a perilous house party by the lake. Then, a dead man comes looking for vengeance, and Sylvia's family have to race against time to save her life.
While restoring justice to the local community, Sylvia is joined throughout all three episodes by her extended family with whom she's reestablished a connection: Isabel, Isabel's husband Matteo (Matteo Carlomagno - All the Money in the World, Jumper) and daughter Alice (Issy Knopfler - Before We Die, Silent Witness), and her mother-in-law Antonella (Imma Piro - La Mazetta, Fontamara). Her relationship with handsome Carabinieri Capitano Riva (Giovanni Cirfiera - American Crime Story; The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Queen of the South) also grows stronger, but as she continues to interfere in his investigations, he finds himself both frustrated and grateful for her help. Nicholas Farrell (The Crown, The Iron Lady, Chariots of Fire) also guest stars in two episodes as a mystery guest.
Filmed on location in the picturesque Lazio and Umbria regions in Italy, the second season of Signora Volpe serves up a bevy of new mysteries to solve against an Italian countryside backdrop, making it not only a suspenseful detective drama but an adventurous summer escape.
Signora Volpe is created and written by Rachel Cuperman (Midsomer Murders) and Sally Griffiths (Midsomer Murders). The second season is directed by Declan Recks (Red Election, Death In Paradise) and Bindu de Stoppani (An Astrological Guide to Broken Hearts, Silent Witness). Candida Julian-Jones (Death In Paradise, Hooten & the Lady) serves as producer. Cuperman and Griffiths also serve as executive producers in addition to Fox, Josie Law (The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Albatross), Marc Samuelson (The Midwich Cuckoos, Tom & Viv), Cristina Giubbetti (Rosaline, Mafia Mamma), Catherine Mackin and Bea Tammer of Acorn TV, and Simon Cox of Banijay Rights. The series is produced by Route 24 Ltd, and co-produced by RLJ Entertainment, Inc for Acorn TV. International distribution is by Banijay Rights and Italian production services by Cattleya.
