Netflix Releases a Teaser and Announces the Premiere Date of the Fiction Miniseries 'Children of the Church Steps'
São Paulo, September 27, 2024 - This Friday, Netflix releases the first teaser for Children of the Church Steps, a four-episode miniseries scheduled to premiere on October 30. Told from the point of view of four children, the series gives an account of the 36 hours leading up to one of the most tragic events in Brazilian history, known as the "Candelária massacre."
The teaser features Douglas (Samuel Silva), Sete (Patrick Congo), Jesus (Andrei Marques) and Pipoca (Wendy Queiroz) as they struggle to survive on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, all while nurturing hope for a different future. Combining action scenes, dreamlike elements and a harsh urban backdrop, the miniseries offers a unique and powerful perspective on life in Brazil's sprawling cities.
Produced by Jabuti Filmes and Kromaki, and directed by Luis Lomenha and Márcia Faria, Children of the Church Steps features a predominantly Black line-up, both behind and in front of the camera, along with survivors of the massacre who contributed to the show's development. In addition to young talents in the leading roles, the cast includes special appearances by big names like Antônio Pitanga, Péricles, Leandro Firmino, Bruno Gagliasso, Maria Bopp and Stepan Nercessian.
