Berlin, September 27, 2024 - It is a tense situation at the court of Empress Elisabeth (Devrim Lingnau) and Emperor Franz (Philip Froissant), with Archduchess Sophie (Melika Foroutan) increasing the pressure on the imperial couple. As their second child is also a girl, the family must fight not only for the continuation of their empire but also for their marriage.
In addition to the popular leading actors, Johannes Nussbaum (Archduke Maximilian), Almila Bagriacik (Court Lady Leontine), Runa Greiner (Court Lady Charlotte) and Alexander Finkenwirth (Alexander von Bach) will also be returning to their roles. New to the cast are Josephine Thiesen (Princess Marie Charlotte of Belgium) and Christophe Favre (Napoleon III).
Acting as showrunner once again, Katharina Eyssen shares the creative responsibilities with executive producer Robert Eyssen on season 2 of the hit series. Sommerhaus Serien GmbH, led by executive producers Jochen Laube and Fabian Maubach, is once again responsible for the production. Scarlett Lacey returns as executive producer with Lars Gmehling as co-executive producer, and Barbara Ott and Maximilian Erlenwein as directors. Filming took place in Bavaria, the Czech Republic and Italy.
The first season of the historical drama about the exceptional Empress Elisabeth has been captivating fans worldwide since its launch and was honored as "Best Drama Series" at the 51st International Emmy(R) Awards.
