BRITBOX DEBUTS OFFICIAL TRAILER AND ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER 4 PREMIERE DATE FOR ORIGINAL COMMISSION "LYNLEY"
Key Art and New Imagery Showcase Leo Suter and Sofia Barclay as the Beloved Detective Duo from Elizabeth George's Internationally Bestselling Novels in the Upcoming Series Produced by Playground
· BritBox, the lead commissioner of the new Original series Lynley, today debuted the official trailer and announced the September 4 premiere date for the four-episode crime drama. Lynley will premiere exclusively on the service in the U.S. and Canada, with episodes released weekly.
· Tommy Lynley is a brilliant police detective but an outsider in the force - simply by virtue of his aristocratic upbringing. He is paired with Barbara Havers, a sergeant with a maverick attitude and a working-class background. With seemingly nothing in common and against all odds, the mismatched duo of Lynley and Havers become a formidable team, bonded by their desire to see justice done. His brain and her spirit - his knowledge and her instincts. It is only through working side by side do they both find where they truly belong.
· Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) and Sofia Barclay (Ted Lasso) star as "DI Tommy Lynley" and "DS Barbara Havers" respectively, the unconventional detective duo in this thrilling, sophisticated crime drama. Daniel Mays (Magpie Murders), Niamh Walsh (The English Game), Michael Workeye (My Lady Jane) and Joshua Sher (Vera) round out the stellar ensemble cast.
· Lynley is created, written and executive produced by Steve Thompson (Vienna Blood, Sherlock) with Ed Bazalgette (Marie Antoinette S2, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die) serving as lead director and Suzanne McAuley (Magpie Murders, Love/Hate) as series producer. Executive producers include David Stern and Colin Callender for Playground; Robert Schildhouse, Stephen Nye, Jon Farrar and Jess O' Riordan for BritBox; Kate Woods for BBC Studios and Sue Deeks for the BBC.
· Elizabeth George, the New York Times-bestselling author of the original source material, serves as an executive producer on the series. The Inspector Lynley books have been translated into over 30 languages and adapted into a BBC series, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, which ran from 2001-2007 and is currently available on BritBox.
· Lynley will premiere on BritBox in the U.S. and Canada and on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK. BBC Studios is handling global sales.
