Star-Studded Chinese-language Revenge Thriller 'The Resurrected' Unveils Main Trailer
Netflix unveils the main trailer and key art for the Chinese-language revenge thriller series The Resurrected, which sets the stage for a chilling seven-day vengeance fueled by a mysterious resurrection ritual. Starring international film icons Shu Qi and Sinje Lee, the trailer teases the dark events behind the tragic fate of three daughters under the hands of manipulative criminal Chang Shih-kai - a death-row inmate mysteriously brought back to life. What unspeakable crime did he commit against these daughters? How far will this twisted plot for revenge push the three mothers into the depths of morality and humanity's darkest abyss?
Set in the fictional city of Benkha, we meet Chang Shih-kai (Fu Meng-po), a manipulative predator sentenced to death after committing heinous crimes of abuse, assault and murder against young girls. Though executed, his victims' mothers - Wang Hui-chun (Shu Qi) and Chao Ching (Sinje Lee) - remain dissatisfied, feeling that his end was far too peaceful.
Unable to accept the injustice, the grieving mothers turn to a mysterious ritual they once witnessed - enabling them to resurrect Chang for seven days. Chang's pitiful state stands in stark contrast to his once-arrogant past, exposing the grotesque collision between guilt, money, and retribution.
The new trailer reveals PARADISE, a haunting abandoned ruin where trafficked youths are imprisoned - including the daughters of Wang Hui-chun, Chao Ching, and Huang I-chen (Alyssa Chia). Inside a derelict swimming pool, the girls cry out desperately for help. The harrowing scene was so intense that cast members Lin Ting-yi and Vivi Chen admitted, "The set felt so real, it was suffocating."
In the series, An Chi (Lin Ting-yi), I-chen's daughter, survives but carries a painful secret; Hui-chun's daughter Jin Jin (Vivi Chen) is left in a coma, seemingly holding a vital clue; while Chao Ching's daughter Hsin-yi (Caitlin Fang) becomes the most tragic victim of all. How did an innocent friendship between three girls twist into such devastation? These questions form one of the drama's most gripping mysteries. Yet for the mothers, bringing their tormentor back to life is only the beginning, while revenge becomes their next impossible test.
The mothers find unlikely allies along the way: breakout Thai-German star Patrick Nattawat Finkler plays Eason, a young man who believes Chang is responsible for his grandmother's death. Meeting Hui-chun at the hospital, he throws himself into the mothers' revenge plan, becoming a crucial partner. Thai actor Sukollawat Kanaros (Weir) takes on the role of Pong, Hui-chun's unassuming neighbor in Benkha, who knows far more about the city's dark underbelly than he lets on.
Premiering in the On-Screen category at this year's Busan International Film Festival, The Resurrected features powerhouse actresses Shu Qi, Sinje Lee and Alyssa Chia, Fu Meng-po's chilling turn as a resurrected villain, and rising stars Caitlin Fang, Lin Ting-yi and Vivi Chen delivering unforgettable performances. The revenge series boasts an international cast, cross-border shoots and a cinematic production value that pull audiences into a world of raw tension and unflinching suspense - cementing itself as one of the year's most anticipated dramas.
The Resurrected premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 9, 2025.
