'Firebreak' premieres on Netflix February 20
Netflix today unveils the launch date, teaser trailer and first look images for Firebreak, the new film from David Victori (Sky Rojo, Cross the Line), a high‑tension psychological thriller about characters trapped in an impossible moral dilemma, which will premiere on Netflix on February 20.
The film stars Belén Cuesta (The Endless Trench, Money Heist), Enric Auquer (A House on Fire, Sky Rojo), Joaquín Furriel (Billionaires' Bunker) and Diana Gómez (Valeria, Money Heist). Firebreak unfolds within a deeply unsettling atmosphere, driven by the anguish of a race against time and the emotional weight of a loss that throws everything into doubt. Candela Martínez and Mika Arias round out the cast.
Produced by Anxo Rodríguez for Espotlight Media and by Ferran Tomás, Firebreak follows Mara (Belén Cuesta), who, after the death of her husband, travels with her daughter Lide (Candela Martínez), her brother-in-law Luis (Joaquín Furriel), his wife Elena (Diana Gómez) and their son (Mika Arias) to the family's summer house in the forest in an attempt to finally close old wounds. What should be a simple farewell quickly turns into a nightmare when, after an argument, her daughter vanishes into the woods without a trace. The situation escalates when an uncontrollable wildfire breaks out in the area. As the flames spread rapidly, authorities are forced to suspend the search and order an immediate evacuation. Desperate, Mara refuses to leave. In a last, extreme decision, the family defies the evacuation order and heads into the forest to search for the girl themselves. Cut off, without official help and with the fire closing in, their only remaining hope is Santi (Enric Auquer), the local forest ranger. But as the danger intensifies, Mara begins to suspect that the fire may not be the only threat - someone is lying.
