Netflix Releases Behind-the-Scenes Footage and an Official Poster for 'Radioactive Emergency', the New Brazilian Miniseries, Premiering March 18

São Paulo, February 4, 2026 - Netflix (Feb 4) released a new video featuring cast interviews and exclusive footage from Radioactive Emergency, a new Brazilian limited series inspired by the real-life Cesium-137 accident that occurred in Goiânia in 1987. Premiering March 18, the production revisits one of the most significant incidents in Brazil's recent history. Led by overall director Fernando Coimbra, it stars Johnny Massaro (Márcio) alongside Paulo Gorgulho (Orenstein), Tuca Andrada (Governor), Bukassa Kabengele (Evenildo), Ana Costa (Antônia), Alan Rocha (João), Marina Merlino (Catarina), William Costa (Darlei), Antonio Saboia (Eduardo), Luiz Bertazzo (Loureiro), Clarissa Kiste (Paula) and Douglas Simon (Souza). The series also includes special guest appearances by Leandra Leal (Esther) and Emílio de Mello (César).

Netflix takes viewers behind the scenes with exclusive footage and interviews with the creative team, who discuss the challenges of telling a story inspired by real events. They talk about the uncertainty and tension experienced in Goiânia in the late 1980s and highlight the essential role of the Brazilian scientific community throughout the crisis.

Produced by Gullane, Radioactive Emergency is inspired by a real-life Cesium-137 accident. The series begins when a radiotherapy device is opened at a scrapyard, releasing radioactive material that spreads through Goiânia. A race against time follows, as the authorities and specialists work to track the contamination and save lives, including those of an entire family affected by the tragedy. The drama shines a light on the anonymous heroes whose efforts mobilized the country and brought renewed attention to the work of Brazilian scientists and medical teams.

Fernando Coimbra is the lead director of the limited series, with episodes directed by Fernando Coimbra and Iberê Carvalho. It is produced by Caio Gullane and Fabiano Gullane, created by Gustavo Lipsztein, and executive produced by Caio Gullane, Fabiano Gullane, Pablo Torrecillas and Ana Saito.

Radioactive Emergency premieres March 18, only on Netflix.
