1883: THE BASS REEVES STORY (Paramount+) - Grantham Coleman is bound for the limited series as Edwin Jones, "an extremely persuasive man who has a clear vision and a promise for the future, to those who will listen." (Deadline.com)
BETTER LIAR, THE (Amazon, New!) - Daisy Ridley is set to star in and executive produce a drama series at Amazon Studios based on the book by Tanen Jones in which "when a woman hires a lookalike in an effort to conceal her sister's death and claim their shared inheritance, her deception exposes a web of dangerous secrets." Raelle Tucker is spearheading the project with Siobhan Bachman also executive producing for The Tornante Company. (Deadline.com)
CLASSIFIED (A.K.A. UNTITLED KAGISO LEDIGA PROJECT) (Freevee) - Christine Horn and Sule Rimi are set to star opposite Imani Pullum in the upcoming drama. Horn will play Diane, "Ella's stepmother whose job for the U.S. State Department in South Africa is more than meets the eye." And Rimi portrays Ella's father, Gabe, "a celebrated author and cultural commentator who follows his wife, Dianne, to her new posting in South Africa." (Deadline.com)
DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, THE (Amazon, New!) - Director Johan Renick is spearheading a TV take on John Wyndham's sci-fi classic at Amazon Studios: "In The Day Of the Triffids, after most people in the world are blinded by a meteor shower, triffids - tall venomous, carnivorous plants - start killing the rest. The story centers on Bill Masen, a biologist who specializes in triffids. He leads survivors in their fight against the killer plants and at some point rescues a young sighted girls and travels with her for several days." Don Murphy and Susan Montford of Angry Films will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
FRASIER (REBOOT SERIES) (Paramount+) - Bebe Neuwirth will reprise her role of Lilith for the show's revival on the streaming service: "When they reunite at Freddy's birthday party, Lilith (Neuwirth), in classic form, is far from pleased about having to share Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) now that Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) is back living in Boston. What begins as a fun party with friends and family, inevitably becomes a Lilith-and-Frasier showdown for the ages." (Deadline.com)
GOTHAM KNIGHTS (The CW) - Doug Bradley has been cast as Joe Chill in the DC Comics series. He'll make his first appearance in the show's sixth episode. (Deadline.com)
IDOL, THE (HBO) - Rolling Stone has published a report detailing how the six-episode series has been "plagued by delays, reshoots, and rewrites" after director Amy Seimetz bowed out last April. (RollingStone.com)
