ALERT: MISSING PERSONS UNIT (FOX) - Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Megalyn Echikunwoke will recur on the new season as Chief Inspector Bill Houston, "who steps into an interim role with oversight of the MPU"; and Lt. Gabrielle Bennett, "who started her career in Philly PD as Jason's trainee," respectively. (Deadline.com, 2/24)
BEHIND THE ATTRACTION (Disney+) - Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions has closed a first-look TV deal with 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 2/24)
BLUE BEETLE (Max) - Executive producers Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer are expected to present the animated project for a possible greenlight "pretty soon." Miguel Puga is directing and Cristian Martinez is writing while Xolo Maridueña could potentially reprise his role from the 2023 film. Sam Register would also executive produce for Warner Bros. CAPE FEAR (Apple TV+) - Patrick Wilson will star alongside Amy Adams and Javier Bardem in the film-turned-TV series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
CARELL, LAWRENCE & TARSES COMEDY SERIES (HBO) - John C. McGinley and Lauren Tsai will round out the cast of the Steve Carell-led comedy series. He'll play will play Walter Mann, "the President of the University"; while she's set as "a doctoral candidate in neuroscience at the college who is in a relationship with Phil (Phil Dunster), Karie's estranged husband." CONSIDER PHLEBAS (Amazon) - Charles Yu has been tapped to spearhead the streamer's Iain M Banks adaptation. He succeeds Dennis Kelly from the original incarnation, which was set up in 2018. Also executive producing are Chloé Zhao of Books of Shadows; Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B Entertainment; as well as Adele Banks. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
CRAZY RICH ASIANS (Max, New!) - Adele Lim, who co-wrote the 2018 movie, is spearheading a potential TV series based on the book series-turned-feature film. No plot specifics were given about the project, which has opened a writers' room. Director Jon M. Chu and author Kevin Kwan as well as Naia Cucukov, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Chloe Dan are also among the executive producers for 100 Tigers, Electric Somewhere, Color Force, SK Global Entertainment and Warner Bros. DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN (Disney+) - Matthew Lillard has joined the cast of the show's second season in a top secret role. (Deadline.com, 2/28)
DC SUPER POWERS (Max, New!) - Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have commissioned a new animated series which "takes place at the Alliance School for Heroes and focuses on new students Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern and Terra who level up their powers under the supervision of Principal Martian Manhunter, in the hopes of one day graduating and becoming the next generation of Earth's defenders." Sam Register and Matt Beans are executive producing with Michael Chang as a supervising producer. (Variety.com, 2/24)
FOUNDATION (Apple TV+) - Ian Goldberg has been tapped to spearhead a proposed fourth season of the series, which has opened a writers' room. He'd formally succeed David S. Goyer as showrunner should it move forward. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Emmy winner Lena Waithe will appear in a two-episode arc on the series as Dr. Evynn Moore, "a brilliant and savvy former student of Catherine Fox's (Debbie Allen) who visits Grey Sloan to help her on a unique case which happens to be for her wife, played by Andrea Bordeaux." HIP HOP COP (Hulu, New!) - Writer Kevin Willmott and director Anthony Hemingway are set to team for a small screen take on Ron Stallworth's memoir "The Gangs of Zion" at the streamer: "The series is set against the rise of rap and hip hop in the 1990s across America and will tell the extraordinary, thrilling, at times absurd and always provocative true story about Ron going undercover for the Salt Lake City Police Department." Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ashok Amritraj and Priya Amritraj will also executive produce for G-Unit Film & Television, Hyde Park Entertainment Group and 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
IMPACT WINTER (Netflix, New!) - Travis Beacham's podcast, which racked up nearly six million subscribers, is being developed for TV by the streamer with Francis Lawrence directing: "A comet hits the earth and the results are apocalyptic. As a result, the sun is blocked out, and humans become pitted against vampires. The way in is two sisters who find themselves on opposite sides of the war." Beacham, Lawrence, Cameron MacConomy, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, Cliff Roberts, Bard Dorros and Zack Hayden are the executive producers for Skybound Entertainment and Anonymous Content. IT'S NOT LIKE THAT (Amazon) - Scott Foley is set as the male lead of the series: "It's Not Like That follows Lori, who is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm's a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It's not like that. Or is it?" He'll also serve as an executive producer. (Variety.com, 2/25)
LAND OF THE GIANTS/TIME TUNNEL, THE/VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (New!) - Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman is developing a new reimagined universe of TV series at Legendary Television based on the three aforementioned Irwin Allen properties. MARGO'S GOT MONEY TROUBLES (Apple TV+) - Michael Angarano will recur on the newcomer as Mark, an English professor who got Elle Fanning's title character pregnant. (Deadline.com, 2/28)
MARVEL'S THE PUNISHER (Netflix) - Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle will formally return in a standalone special on Disney+ in 2026 after guest starring in the upcoming "Daredevil: Born Again." He'll also co-write the project alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green. No other details were given. (THR.com, 2/25)
MAXIMUM PLEASURE GUARANTEED (Apple TV+, New!) - Emmy Award winner Tatiana Maslany will topline a 10-episode "half-hour darkly comedic thriller" at the streamer "about a newly divorced mom (Maslany) who falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder, and youth soccer." Writer David J. Rosen and director David Gordon Green are behind the project, with Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and Bard Dorros also executive producing for Apple Studios, Counterpart Studios, Genre Films and Anonymous Content. MY ADVENTURES WITH GREEN LANTERN (Max, New!) - Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have greenlit a new animated series which "will follow high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky and chooses Cruz to be its champion. Things get even worse when more debris from the Lanterns' ancient space war arrives - along with their alien foes." UNTITLED SPENCER & WADDINGHAM SERIES) (Amazon) - The Octavia Spencer/Hannah Waddingham-led series has added Matt Miller as showrunner and Peyton Reed as director of the first two episodes. Also joining the cast are Bill Nighy as The Director; Ed Skrein as Billy Donovan; Sylvia Hoeks as Ana; Calam Lynch as Sam; Jamie Parker as David; and Savannah Steyn as Queenie. ROBIN HOOD (MGM+) - The Jack Patten/Sean Bean-led series has cast Lauren McQueen as Marian; Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, "the Sheriff's daughter who understands the rules of power and plays them to her advantage"; Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, "a ruthless Norman lord and the father of Maid Maria"; Marcus Fraser as Little John, "Robin's most loyal ally"; Angus Castle-Doughty as Friar Tuck, "a principled young monk who aligns himself with Robin Hood's outlaws in pursuit of true justice"; and Henry Rowley as Will, "a young man caught between two worlds who wants belonging, respect, and a future beyond the shadows of the forest." UNTITLED NEWFOUNDLAND PROJECT (Netflix, New!) - Jesse McKeown has landed a six-part drama at the streamer set and shot in the Canadian province: "The series is set in a remote Newfoundland town, which is terrorized by a mysterious sea creature, and a hard-bitten fisherman must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life." YOUNG AGAIN (FOX, New!) - FOX Entertainment Group has commissioned "a new international format pilot" which "uses tech to de-age senior contestants who then embark on dates as younger versions of themselves."
