CBS Corporation Re-Brands Paramount Television; Production, Domestic Syndication and International Distribution Arm to Be Named CBS Paramount Television

[via press release from CBS]

CBS CORPORATION RE-BRANDS PARAMOUNT TELEVISION; PRODUCTION, DOMESTIC SYNDICATION AND INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION ARM TO BE NAMED CBS PARAMOUNT TELEVISION

The CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS) has officially re-branded its Paramount Television division CBS Paramount Television, it was announced today by Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation.

The new name brings together two of the most iconic symbols in entertainment -- the CBS Eye, one of the most recognized logos in the world, and the Paramount mountain. Both brands and symbols will be part of the division's new identity and logo, which is seen above.

"When we brought together CBS Productions and Paramount Television, we created one of the premiere television production, syndication and distribution companies in the industry," said Moonves. "Now, as we move forward, we're very proud to see the CBS name reflected in this one-of-a-kind business."

CBS Paramount Television is comprised of CBS Paramount Network Television, CBS Paramount Domestic Television and CBS Paramount International Television. The division also includes a library with more than 60,000 hours of television programming.

CBS has sole exclusivity of the CBS and Paramount brand for its television, syndication and distribution business.

Moonves continued: "The new CBS Paramount Television represents the very finest collection of programs on television, from hit network series to top-rated syndicated programming to an extraordinary library. I want to thank Nancy Tellem and David Stapf for building our production arm into one of the top suppliers of primetime programming on television; Joel Berman, John Nogawski, Greg Meidel and Terry Wood for running a phenomenal domestic distribution unit that syndicates many of the top programs on television; and Armando Nuez for an international operation that gives our content a footprint in more than 230 countries around the world."

In addition to CBS Paramount Television, CBS Corporation is the home to King World, one of television industry's most successful television syndication companies, whose roster of hits includes "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Jeopardy!," "Wheel of Fortune" and "Dr. Phil."

CBS Consumer Products, a separate division within the CBS Corporation, will continue to manage the worldwide licensing, merchandising and video activities for CBS, UPN, CBS Paramount Television and King World productions.

CBS Paramount Television is the end result of the merger of CBS Productions and Paramount Television, which were combined in 2004 to create one of the world's largest producers and distributors of programming for network, cable, prime time, daytime, first-run syndication and international platforms. Today, its three divisions -- Network Television, Domestic Television and International Television -- present a diverse roster of popular and critically-acclaimed series, such as CBS's phenomenally successful CSI franchise and "NCIS," the fastest growing drama on a major network; NBC's hit drama series "Medium"; UPN's "Everybody Hates Chris," which was the most watched comedy premiere in the history of the Network, and "Girlfriends," which ranks among the top shows among African American viewers; and "Charmed" on The WB. Paramount's first-run syndication roster includes "Entertainment Tonight," the Number One entertainment newsmagazine now in its 25th season; "The Insider," which launched last season as the Number One new syndicated show; "Judge Judy," the Number One court show now in its 10th season; "Judge Joe Brown," the Number Two court show in the country; and the phenomenally successful hit "Dr. Phil," which debuted higher than any other syndicated show in sixteen years and consistently ranks Number Two among all talk shows. Collectively, the division produces more than 46 hours of programming each week and includes in its library over 60,000 hours of television programming and titles ranging from cherished classics like "I Love Lucy" to "Frasier," the most Emmy Award-winning series of all time.

CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS) is a mass media company with constituent parts that reach back to the beginnings of the broadcast industry, as well as newer businesses that operate on the leading edge of the media industry. The Company, through its many and varied operations, combines broad reach with well-positioned local businesses, all of which provide it with an extensive distribution network by which it serves audiences and advertisers in all 50 states and key international markets.
