'DOCTOR WHO' RETURNS TO SCI FI WITH BEST SEASON PREMIERE SINCE SEASON 1
'BATTLESTAR GALACTICA' SCORES BEST PERFORMANCE SINCE SEASON 2 PREMIERE WITH NEW LIVE + 7 DATA
NEW YORK � April 21, 2008 � British sensation Doctor Who returned to SCI FI Channel with the premiere of it's fourth season on Friday April 18th. The special Titanic-themed, 90-minute broadcast, "Voyage of The Damned," averaged a 1.1 HH rating, 693,000 P18-49, 806,000 P25-54 and 1,480,000 P2+ total viewers. This represents the best season premiere episode on all measures since its March 17, 2006 debut on SCI FI and the most total viewers since October 2006.
Compared to the season 3 premiere on SCI FI (March 6, 2007) Friday's broadcast was up +39% in HH rating, +17% in P18-49, +20% in P25-54 and +40% in total viewers (P2+). Doctor Who was the 7th ranked program in primetime (8-11p) among Adults P25-54.
Battlestar Galactica, SCI FI's top original series of 2007, added to its stellar season 4 premiere numbers with the release of new Live +7 data. Overall the April 4 premiere episode averaged a 1.9 HH rating, 1,843,000 P18-49, 1,959,000 P25-54, and 2,652,000 total viewers (P2+). This was the best performance for Battlestar Galactica in all key demos since the season 2 premiere in July 2005. Battlestar was the #1 cable program for the day in both Adults P18-49 and Adults P25-54 on April 4.
Doctor Who is a one-hour drama that follows the adventures of a mysterious time-traveler known simply as "The Doctor" (David Tennant) and his companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).
