-- Travel Channel Delivers Double Digit Year-Over-Year Growth in Demo for Both its Primetime Ratings and Audience Delivery for Six Consecutive Months --
The Travel Channel enters the 2009-2010 Upfront Season with seven consecutive years of record audience delivery. In addition, the network has experienced 13 consecutive months of growth in total day delivery (nine of them in double-digits), and six consecutive months of double digit growth in primetime ratings.
"Riding the wave of increased ratings, excitement over our new series and our Catch It! brand platform, as well as the growing buzz among consumers around our hugely popular social media applications, the Travel Channel enters this Upfront season with unprecedented momentum," said Patrick Younge, president and general manager, Travel Channel. "With our entertaining and engaging travel content leading the charge, we've successfully increased our upscale audience delivery 40% year-on-year with adults 25-54 and 18-49, while moving our median age to 45, down five years in the past 12 months alone. Our reach, frequency and duration of viewing is up over 10% in prime among persons 25-54, illustrating that our investment in establishing consistent program offerings across the week and building on the strength of our brand is paying off with consumers. Further, that strength opens a wealth of turn key opportunities for our partners and their brands both onscreen and across our growing list of distribution platforms."
In October 2009, the new travelchannel.com will re-launch offering even more opportunities for partnering through rich media applications and popular fan sites. Travel Channel's library of short form travel video is unmatched, and Travel Channel Studios can create customized solutions for our diverse array of advertising partners. Travel Channel GO!, the network's mobile platform, offers text, audio and video, and location-based applications to millions of consumers through partners including Blackberry, Nokia and Apple. Additionally, Travel Channel has found success in the social media space on Facebook, with its Kidnap! application ranked as a Top 10 Facebook application engaging over 3 million monthly users.
