CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- In an effort designed to cash in on the series' stellar opening numbers, NBC will rebroadcast the pilot episode of its freshman comedy "Whoopi" tonight at 9:30/8:30c.
"Whoopi's" premiere on Tuesday scored a whopping 15.1 million viewers, not to mention a 4.9 rating and 16 share in adults 18-49. That's the best performance in its time slot since January 20, 1998 (for an episode of "Mad About You") in terms of total viewers and the best since October 24, 2000 (the premiere of "The Michael Richards Show") among adults 18-49.
Lead-out "Happy Family" was no slouch either as the series drew 14.7 million viewers and a 5.1 rating and 15 share in adults 18-49. Both scores were the Peacock's best since "Watching Ellie" held the 8:30/7:30c slot back in March 2002.
