Atlas Worldwide and National Lampoon Announce Partnership on Reality Courtroom Show "Eye for an Eye"

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 23, 2004 -- National Lampoon, Inc. (OTCBB: NLPN - news) and Atlas Worldwide Syndications & Distributions announced today that the two companies have agreed to team up on the production, distribution and marketing of the nationally-syndicated series "Eye for an Eye," the unforgiving reality courtroom television show with a twist. At the same time, the companies also announced that the show will become a strip in the Fall of 2005.

A National Lampoon production, "Eye for an Eye," captures the essence of justice and puts punishment front and center. A non-traditional, no-nonsense, no-holds-barred spectacle of trial and punishment, the syndicated reality courtroom show, breaks ground and takes small claims court to places unseen since the Spanish Inquisition. Unlike any other courtroom television program, "Eye for an Eye" features the powerful and enigmatic Judge "Extreme Akim" sentencing his litigants to "paybacks" with signature punishment episodes. Akim, a former State Prosecutor for South Carolina, appears alongside Sugar Ray Phillips (former middleweight boxing champion of the world) as bailiff. "Eye for an Eye" delivers a gavel crack unheard of in the canon of American courtroom television.

"Eye for an Eye" began airing in January of 2003 in markets such as Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Nashville, and New Orleans. Since then, the show has been building momentum and market share with increased demand from program directors and general managers across the country. For the show"s upcoming third season, Atlas Worldwide has cleared approximately 70% of the country and, in partnership with National Lampoon, "Eye for an Eye" will shift to a strip in September of 2005.

"This is tremendous news," said the program"s creator and Executive Producer Jerry Bryant. "National Lampoon"s brand, focus on humor and active involvement in the show"s evolution will be a perfect fit for our show. With the addition of National Lampoon, the only thing that will change about the show is that we"ll have access to some of the most creative minds in the satirical world." As co-producer of the show, National Lampoon will provide hands-on involvement in all aspects of the program"s creative, production and marketing on a day-to-day basis.

"We"re delighted to be partners on this project," said National Lampoon"s Chief Operating Officer Dan Laikin. "As a National Lampoon production, "Eye for an Eye" captures our brand, sensibility and focus in a unique way and we are looking forward to helping it grow into a powerful franchise in daytime TV."

"Eye for an Eye" will begin shooting its new season in November of 2004. The show is currently airing nationwide on FOX, The WB, UPN, ABC and CBS affiliates. For more information on the series or for show times in your area visit www.eyeforaneyetv.com.
