Debut Date for Aaron McGruders The Boondocks Moved to Sunday, Nov. 6

The Boondocks, the new Adult Swim original series based on Aaron McGruders award-winning and politically charged comic strip of the same name, will now premiere on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 11 p.m. (ET, PT). This is a change from the previously announced series debut date of Sunday, Oct. 2. Adult Swim is Cartoon Networks late-night sister network showcasing animation for adults.

In The Boondocks, when Robert Granddad Freeman becomes legal guardian of his rambunctious grandkids, he moves from the south side of Chicago to the quiet and safety of The Boondocks (in this case, suburban Woodcrest), hoping that he can ignore them altogether and enjoy the fourth quarter of his life in peace. But Huey, a 10-year-old left wing revolutionary, is determined not to enjoy the affluence of suburbia. This attitude is seconded by his 8-year-old brother, Riley, a proud product of contemporary rap culture. Although they torture each other and provoke the neighborhood, they are no match for Granddad, who is eccentric even by crazy-ass-old-black-man standards.

Creator Aaron McGruder also serves as an executive producer of The Boondocks. Regina King (Ray, Miss Congenialty 2) provides the voice of both Huey and Riley Freeman. John Witherspoon (Friday After Next) is the voice of Granddad. The series is produced by Rebel Base and Hudlin Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television. Fifteen episodes are in production.

Cartoon Network launched Adult Swim in September 2001. Now airing Saturday-Thursday from 11 p.m.-6 a.m. (ET, PT), Adult Swim is the #1 network on all of ad-supported basic cable with its primary demographics, adults and men 18-24 and adults and men 18-34. Adult Swims programming includes animated comedy and anim programming, including favorites like Family Guy and Futurama; original comedy hits Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law; and action-adventure series InuYasha, Fullmetal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop. Starting Sunday, Oct. 2, Adult Swim will begin at 10 p.m. (ET, PT) on Sundays.

Sony Pictures Television is one of the television industry's leading content providers. SPT produces and distributes top-rated, award-winning programming in every genre, including series, movies and family entertainment for network and cable television; first-run syndicated series; off-network syndicated programs; and theatrical releases. SPT (www.sonypicturestelevision.com) is a Sony Pictures Entertainment company.

Adult Swim (AdultSwim.com), launched in 2001, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.s network dedicated to edgy animated comedy and action series, both original and acquired, currently airing Saturday-Thursday from 11 p.m-6 a.m. (ET, PT). Adult Swim shares channel space with Cartoon Network, home to the best in original, classic and acquired programming for children and families, and is seen in more than 88 million U.S. homes.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, is a major producer of news and entertainment product around the world and the leading provider of programming for the basic cable industry.
