"Martha" Averaging More Than 2 Million Viewers Per Episode And Improving Time Periods In 15 of Nation's Top 20 Markets
New York, NY - October 19, 2005 - NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution's new series "Martha" continues to improve time periods from coast to coast through its first five weeks in national syndication and is the highest-rated new one-hour launch in national syndication since "Dr. Phil."
The daytime series, which is averaging a 2.0 HH rating in the metered markets season-to-date, has improved local station time periods by more than 17% (vs. Oct. '04), according to Nielsen Media Research data. In the most recent national weekly (Oct. 3-9) ratings, "Martha" was up in all key demographics and in household ratings, gaining six percent in households, 25% in women 18-34 and 14% in women 18-49. Overall, "Martha" is improving time periods in 15 of the nation's top 20 markets through its first five weeks on the air.
Over the last week, a number of major markets have scored their best ratings with "Martha," including WXYZ-TV Detroit, which averaged a 6.0 HH rating on Monday, Oct. 17. On Thursday October 13, KCNC-TV Denver scored an all-time 3.2 HH rating, while on Friday Oct. 14 KDKA-TV Pittsburgh scored its best number thus far, a 3.9 HH rating. WEWS-TV Cleveland averaged a 5.0 on Monday and KMAX-TV Sacramento scored a 2.2 HH rating.
