Summer Heats Up with Favorite Sports and Features on Universal Hd

SUMMER HEATS UP WITH FAVORITE SPORTS AND FEATURES ON UNIVERSAL HD

BURBANK, Calif. -� June 1, 2006 �- Summer heats up when Universal HD brings viewers the scariest moments from the beach. Beware The Beach Weekend (Friday, July 7th through Sunday, July 9th) features the high definition premiere of The Triangle. Set against the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle, this three-night, SCI FI original miniseries focuses on a disparate group of professionals brought together to investigate the dangerous truths behind one of the greatest legends of our time. The critically-acclaimed series airs Friday at 9pm and 1:30am and Saturday and Sunday at 9pm and 1am (ET). The weekend also features Waterworld, Jaws 2, Gray Lady Down, Moon Over Parador and special episodes of Medical Investigation and Surface.

Universal digs up the Weekend of The Living Sequels from Friday, July 28th through Sunday, July 30th. Hitchhikers, giant man-eating worms and a psychotic cross-dresser return to torment viewers all weekend long. On Friday, Universal HD features Psycho IV: The Beginning, The Hitcher II and Darkman III. Saturday features Tremors, Tremors IV and Skulls III and Sunday concludes with Jaws 2 � all in high defnition.

"We strive to bring the best high-definition summer entertainment to viewers on Universal HD," said Dan Harrison, Senior Vice-President Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment. "We are packing the schedule with our viewers' favorite features, sports and series throughout July."

Viewers can enjoy a double crime feature, presented by Sleuth and Miami Vice on Thursday, July 27th on Universal HD. A Thursday night double-crime-feature: Sneakers, starring Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, and River Phoenix and Renegades, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips. These action packed crime dramas are the perfect lead-in to the feature premiere of Miami Vice, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, in theaters on Friday July 28th.

Celebrate July 4th with Universal HD. We're bringing viewers explosive two-hour episodes of Quantum Leap and Medical Investigation followed by a marathon of The 2006 Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD and The 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour. The evening ends with a bang with Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton in Dante's Peak.

Summer Camp continues on Universal HD. Viewers are never too old to enjoy summer camp, or campy summer movies. We've collected some of the campiest features in high definition, all for viewers to enjoy in the comfort of their air-conditioned living rooms through Saturday, July 1st. The weekend continues with Matinee, Amazon Women on the Moon and Dr. Giggles.

The third show of the new series, The 2006 Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD, premieres on Friday, July 21st at 10pm and 1am (ET). This episode takes us paragliding above the Alps, first descents on Mount Waddington in British Columbia, and deep snow roadside skiing with the TGR Ski Team. The 2006 JWOASHD is a new action-adventure sports series premiering on Universal HD, hosted by Pat Parnell. Shot in native 1080i HD, the show features an array of adrenaline-inspired feats and adventurous sporting events from around the world. Anchor events will be complemented by behind-the-scenes features on athletes, expeditions and the world of action-adventure sports.

Nothing says summer like live sports events � in high definition. Universal HD will broadcast The 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour live on Friday, July 14th and Saturday, July 15th at 12am (ET). Featured in this installment is The Right Guard Open, the second stop on the 2006 tour.
