Cartoon Network Earns Double-Digit Prime Time, Total Day Gains Among Kids 6-11

Cartoon Network charted strong prime time and total day ratings and delivery gains among all targeted kid demos last week vs. the same 2005 time period, including impressive double-digit growth among kids 6-11, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. Weeknight and weekend prime time programming proved particularly powerful as original comedy series The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (M-Th, 8 p.m.), Ed, Edd n Eddy (M-Th, 8:30 p.m.), and Camp Lazlo (M-Th, 9 p.m.), and action-adventure acquisitions Pok�mon Chronicles (Sat, 7-8 p.m.), Naruto (Sat, 8:30-9:30 p.m.) and Xiaolin Showdown (M-Th, 9:30 p.m.) each earned across-the-board increases among the network�s kids and tweens audiences.
Additionally, the network�s summer-long strategy of presenting brand new episodes of its original series every Monday-Saturday night at 7 p.m. has scored powerful growth among all kids demos vs. the same week last year.
Highlights of Cartoon Network�s performance vs. the same 2005 time period include the following:
PRIME TIME (Mon.-Thurs. 8-10:30 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 8-11 p.m., Sun. 8-10 p.m.) vs. the same time period last year
-- Kids 6-11 delivery (731,000) advanced by 18% and ratings (3.0) by 20%
-- Kids 2-11 delivery (979,000) grew by 7% and ratings (2.4) by 4%
-- Tweens 9-14 delivery (480,000) and ratings (2.0) both jumped by 11%
TOTAL DAY (Mon.-Thurs. 6 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Fri. 6 a.m.-6 a.m., Sat. 6 a.m.-11 p.m., Sun. 6 a.m.-10 p.m.) vs. the same time period last year
-- Kids 6-11 delivery (562,000) expanded by 11%, and ratings (2.3) by 10%
-- Kids 2-11 delivery (823,000) and ratings (2.1) both increased by 5%
-- Tweens 9-14 delivery (378,000) improved by 8% and ratings (1.5) by 7%
Cartoon Network new episode premieres at 7 p.m., Aug. 14-20, vs. the same time period last year
-- Kids 6-11 delivery (664,000) increased by 30% and ratings (2.7) by 29%
-- Kids 2-11 delivery (963,000) and ratings (2.4) both expanded by 14%
-- Tweens 9-14 delivery (428,000) improved by 43% and ratings (1.7) by 42%
