CARVE OUT YOUR OWN HORROR STORY WITH "THE SIMPSONS" "TREEHOUSE OF HORROR XVII: SLICE-DICE-AND-WIN" CONTEST

THE SIMPSONS' First-Ever User-Generated Promo Contest

Fans of THE SIMPSONS are in store for more tricks and treats than ever before as FOX launches the first-ever "Treehouse Of Horror XVII: Slice-Dice-and-Win" contest. The "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" Halloween trilogy airs Sunday, Nov. 5 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

From Monday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Nov. 5, fans can take a stab at cutting their own SIMPSONS "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" promo spot using a unique web-based editing tool found on THE SIMPSONS micro-site: www.thesimpsons.com/treehouse.

The simple-to-use editing tool allows viewers to customize a promo, approximately 30 seconds in length, using a selection of "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" video clips, sounds, transitions and music cues. Title cards and text can also be added to make the spots truly original. SIMPSONS fans may choose to enter the contest, or they can edit a promo for fun and send their creation to their friends via email.

The grand prize winner will be selected among entries submitted from now until 11:59 PM on Monday, Oct. 30. A panel of judges will determine the best user-generated promo and award the winner a trip for two to THE SIMPSONS' historic 400th episode party in Los Angeles in May 2007, plus a chance to have his or her promo air on FOX.

Fans can continue to submit SIMPSONS promos through Sunday, Nov. 5. In this phase of the contest, one winner will receive a "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" giclee signed by creator and executive producer Matt Groening. Additionally, 20 contestants will win a framed limited-run "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" poster, and another 100 entrants will be randomly selected to receive special SIMPSONS mini-posters.

Users can slice and dice the promo as many ways as they wish, until satisfied with their unique creation. Promos will be displayed and rotated daily on the micro-site, where visitors can view and rank their favorite spots and send them to fellow SIMPSONS fans.

Official rules are provided at www.thesimpsons.com/treehouse/rules. Fans can also access the contest at the official SIMPSONS MySpace profile (www.myspace.com/thesimpsons), where they can also see a sneak preview of the "Treehouse Of Horror XVII" episode.

THE SIMPSONS is a Gracie Films production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Al Jean are the executive producers. Film Roman is the animation house.
