NEW YORK, October 23, 2006 -- COMEDY CENTRAL issued a challenge and its audience responded with more than 2,000 submissions to the all comedy network's first-ever user-generated broadband competition "COMEDY CENTRAL's Test Pilots." The grand prize winner "Awesome Friends" from creator Wade Randolph will receive a six episode broadband development deal on comedycentral.com, it was announced today by Lou Wallach, senior vice president, original programming and development, COMEDY CENTRAL.

"We were thrilled with our audience reaction to 'COMEDY CENTRAL's Test Pilots,'" said Wallach. "As you can imagine, we received an eclectic mix of user-generated content. The 'Awesome Friends' pilot was an immediate favorite among the staff. We are excited to work with Wade Randolph to create a broadband series that will encapsulate the COMEDY CENTRAL brand and keep our comedycentral.com users laughing."

COMEDY CENTRAL's Test Pilots" began accepting submissions from May 22 through August 24, 2006. COMEDY CENTRAL partnered with IFILM and utilized their innovative user-generated content submission platform, which was accessible via www.comedycentral.com. The three month competition gave would-be show creators the opportunity to submit one to five-minute pilots to comedycentral.com with the winner receiving the chance to enter into a broadband development deal. The network received more than 2,000 submissions including live action, animation, parody and sketch.

During the competition, COMEDY CENTRAL chose three "staff picks" per week for four consecutive weeks and those pilots were streamed on comedycentral.com. These "staff picks" were rated by the comedycentral.com users each week and the highest rated submission became a semi-finalist. After four semi-finalists were chosen, comedycentral.com users determined which of the top four pilots moved on to the final competition. In addition to the online viewers' choice, three finalists were chosen by COMEDY CENTRAL's panel of judges, which consisted of COMEDY CENTRAL executives.

The grand prize winner, "Awesome Friends," was selected by COMEDY CENTRAL's panel of judges and creator Wade Randolph recently negotiated a development deal with COMEDY CENTRAL to produce an episodic series on comedycentral.com.
