NEW YORK - October 25, 2006 - Bravo announces series pick-up of "Top Hair" (working title), which was previously announced as a series in development under the title "Heads Up." Bravo has partnered with Reveille LLC, the Emmy-Award winning producers of NBC's "The Office," "The Biggest Loser," and Bravo's "Blow Out," to bring viewers this new one-hour eight episode competition series searching for America's next great hairstylist. Starting with the most basic of cuts and working up to full-blown makeovers, "Top Hair" will take the most talented hairstylists from around the country and slowly narrow them down as they compete in a series of weekly challenges until it is clear who has the skills, personality and overall chops to win $100,000, among other coveted prizes. The announcement was made today by Lauren Zalaznick, President, Bravo.
"Our critically acclaimed reality competition series are marked by talented contestants and highly creative challenges," said Zalaznick. "It's exciting to present our viewers with another group of gifted creators -- in this case stylists -- to showcase their craft as well as the high-stakes drama during their competitive journey."
The challenges will cover the full range of skills that being a star in a salon requires. To win this competition and create "Top Hair," they will need more than just skills with a comb. Surviving a house full of contestants wielding scissors will require energy and endurance, a vision for what the future of hair looks like, a unique personality capable of handling stressful situations and angry clients, and a general sense of fabulousness that just can't be taught.
Contestants will be drawn together from all walks of life and will possess a range of skills and training. With casting currently underway in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago and Miami, licensed stylists with a passion for hair are invited to meet with "Top Hair" casting producers.
