BRAVO'S KATHY GRIFFIN ANNOUNCED PLANS TO DATE HER WAY WWW.OFFTHEDLIST.COM WITH FANS VOTING ONLINE FOR LARRY BIRKHEAD, KEVIN FEDERLINE, MARIO LOPEZ, PRINCE WILLIAM OR SANJAYA FOR A CELEBRITY COUPLE DATE
Griffin, Who Says She Married For Love "Like A Fool the First Time Around," Plans To Only Date For Press
NEW YORK May 16, 2007 Could a date with Sanjaya move Kathy Griffin, the comedienne and star of Bravo's Emmy-nominated "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," off the D-List? Griffin announced today on "The View" that she's jumping back into the dating world, but since she married for love "like a fool the first time around," this time, she's only dating men for their true worth . . . publicity. Bravo is launching a campaign inviting her "peeps" to vote for which celebrity they think Griffin should date to garner A-List press: Larry Birkhead, Kevin Federline, Mario Lopez, Prince William or "American Idol's" Sanjaya.
The new season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" debuts Tuesday, June 5 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, but fans have until June 13 to cast their vote online at www.OffTheDList.com or via text message by texting DLIST to BRAVO (27286). Griffin's date with the celebrity who receives the most votes will be featured on Bravo during the third season finale of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" on July 24.
Says Griffin of her potential suitors:
Birkhead - "Perfect guy for me, except I don't like kids, so we'll have to give little baby Abby-Lu to Virgie who is clearly an excellent parent. I promise to give the exclusive of our first kiss to OK! magazine for a cool million dollars. However, I do not want to return to the Bahamas with him for various trials, as my hair will frizz."
Federline - "I am happy to be a part of a mixed racial couple. I hope no one called him the n word in my presence. I am afraid if he sneezes on me I'll get pregnant, in fact I have morning sickness right now just thinking about him. Perhaps together we can simply bust a move."
Lopez - "Oh boy! Ummm......so......yeah. Who is it again?"
Prince William - "Finally someone who is my equal. I don't mind that he is losing his hair. He is still all man, all prince, all the time. I would like to defrock him on our naughty throne until he gets ex-communicated."
Sanjaya - "First of all I am going to put some meat on his bones and make a man out of him one eyebrow at a time. I have always wanted a man who dances the hula while sporting a pony-hawk."
Fans are invited to visit www.OffTheDList.com to vote for which celebrity Kathy should date to get off the D-List and create potential "Brangelina" Kathy Power Couple name.
On season three of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," life still holds its indignities for the comic. Viewers will relish in fantastic new D-List adventures, including her prison comedy tour, where she manages to make the prisoners blush; a trip to her hometown of Chicago where she meets up with her old prom date; the launch of her career in the U.K.; Griffin on the dating scene as a recent divorcee and hosting at the Gay Adult Video Awards. Her career rolls on, which only serves up more challenges for the dog-tired Griffin, who must show more fortitude than ever to stay at the top of her game, as well as face some of life's bigger challenges and heartbreaks.
Returning this season are some of Griffin's "peeps," headlined by her trusty assistant, Jessica and her lovable parents John and Maggie Griffin. Griffin also has a new motley crew of personalities in her hectic life, including Tom, her tour manager/housemate and Tiffany, Griffin's assistant's assistant.
But first, Griffin serves as her own series lead-in when Bravo debuts her fifth stand-up special for the network at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, "Kathy Griffin: Everybody Can Suck It," in which she takes comedic aim at everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Ann Coulter.
