The N is All About A Girl This Summer as the Teen Network Commences Production on Its First Scripted Comedy

Produced By Brightlight Pictures in Association With CanWest MediaWorks A New 13-Episode Original Series Currently in Production in Vancouver, British Columbia Set To Premiere in the US and Canada Fall 2007

NEW YORK, Aug. 14 -- The N, the nighttime network for teens, takes on its first scripted comedy series, About A Girl. The 13-episode, half-hour series created by writer Adam Tobin and executive produced by Tim O'Donnell (Growing Pains, Clueless and Lizzie McGuire) recently began production in Vancouver, Canada it was announced by Sarah Tomassi Lindman, SVP and GM, The N. About A Girl is produced by Brightlight Pictures in association with Canada's CanWest MediaWorks and is scheduled to premiere on The N in the US and on Global in Canada this Fall '07.

"We are excited to delve into our first scripted comedy," said Lindman. "About A Girl is sure to be a fantastic addition to our schedule as we continue to grow our teen roster of original and award-winning programming."

The comedy chronicles Amy Ryan (Chiara Zanni "Good Luck Chuck"), a college sophomore whose campus dorm turns out to be more of a dud than a dream, and she finds herself in need of a new address. Effectively homeless, she quickly bunks up with not one, but four male roommates in an off-campus house where everyday courtesies such as hygiene and privacy are about to go out the window.

"This is a smart and engaging new series featuring a marvelous roster of fresh Canadian talent. We're very proud to be showcasing this program as part of our upcoming Fall line-up, alongside our broadcast partners, The N," said Christine Shipton, VP, Original Programming, Global Television.

Amy is in for the ride of her life and she's about to find out how the other half truly lives. Over the next year, Jason - the hot stud and her future crush; McRitchie -- the household problem solver; Benny -- the self proclaimed brains of the house; and Dude -- the fifth year junior who gives new meaning to the word slacker, evolve from being just Amy's roommates to her bodyguards, chaperones and new best friends.

"We have an amazing team of incredibly funny writers who created these hilarious characters and situations," says Stephen Hegyes, executive producer and partner of Brightlight Pictures. "We are so fortunate to have such a dynamic cast bring the series to life. They already feel like a family and we are absolutely thrilled."

Tim O'Donnell, executive producer and show-runner, has served as a writer, director and show-runner of half-hour comedies that have included series as varied as Growing Pains, Clueless, Lizzie McGuire, Dave's World, The Amanda Show, Whoopie, Billable Hours, Darcy's Wild Life and Flight 29 Down.
