NEW YORK � January 31, 2008 -- Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization, announced today that the 57th Annual MISS USA�Competition will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts located at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on April 11, 2008 and broadcast live from 9-11 p.m. ET on NBC and distributed internationally.

"What happens in Vegas won't be staying in Vegas as the Miss USA telecast is viewed in more than 80 countries around the globe on live television," said Shugart. "We have teamed with two great partners for this event; the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, as well as the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino."

Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith spent her year traveling the nation as an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, education, research, and legislation. She will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated viewing audience in the U.S. alone of over 7 million. Each contestant from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The show will conclude with one contestant ultimately being crowned Miss USA�2008.

Along with executive producer Donald J. Trump, veteran television writer and executive producer Phil Gurin and the Gurin Company will again produce MISS USA�2008.
