New Half-Hour Original Version Hosted by Howie Mandel & Produced by Same Team As NBC's Hit Primetime Series
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA�March 24, 2008 - NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution has sold the upcoming half-hour version of hit game show "Deal or No Deal" in more than 95% of the U.S. for its fall 2008 national syndication debut, it was announced today by Barry Wallach, President, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
"Deal or No Deal" will be hosted by Howie Mandel and produced by Endemol USA, the same team behind NBC's hit primetime version. The show has been sold to NBC Local Media stations in the nation's top markets including WNBC-TV in NY, KNBC-TV in LA and WMAQ-TV in Chicago, as well as to stations from a number of leading broadcast groups including CBS, Sinclair, Gannett, Fox, Post-Newsweek, Lin, Hearst-Argyle, Dispatch, Media General, Local TV, Allbritton, Scripps Howard, Raycom and more.
The syndicated version of "Deal or No Deal" will include all the key elements that made NBC's primetime version a breakout hit, with Mandel as host, the Banker, models, contestants risking big money and the same award-winning production team.
"We're excited to launch the first-run syndicated version of 'Deal or No Deal' this fall, coming off the continued ratings dominance of the primetime series," says Wallach.
"Deal or No Deal" is NBC's most watched entertainment program of the 2007-2008 TV season, averaging more than 13 million viewers per telecast, winning its Monday night time period and continuously building on its lead in for stations across the country, according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, "Deal or No Deal" has delivered more than 119 million unique viewers this season�the most of any other primetime program on television.
"Deal or No Deal" is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Scott St. John. The series is distributed in the U.S. by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
