TNT Gives Fans of THE CLOSER a Sneak Peek as Writers Work on New Season

tnt.tv will Feature Specially Produced, Behind-the-Scenes Looks Into the Writers' Room THE CLOSER Set to Return for Fourth Season in July

Fans of TNT's hit crime drama THE CLOSER will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek at what's to come through a collection of specially produced, online segments to be made available at tnt.tv. The segments, which will be posted on the site today, April 7, feature exclusive footage of the writers' room, where THE CLOSER's staff of writers and producers hash out story ideas. The segments also include interviews with the show's executive producers.

THE CLOSER's eagerly anticipated fourth season starts in July.

"With fans eagerly awaiting THE CLOSER's return, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to take them behind the scenes and show how the intricate plots and character details are developed by the writers," said Molly Battin, senior vice president of brand development and digital platforms for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. "This is also a great chance for fans to get a sneak preview at what they can expect when THE CLOSER returns to TNT in July."

In these new, online segments, THE CLOSER's executive producers and writers take viewers through the process of putting a season together, beginning with the development of the season's main theme. This includes discussions with THE CLOSER's Golden Globe-winning star and producer Kyra Sedgwick, who helps writers determine what rites of passage her character will face in the coming season.

Once the season's theme is developed, writers brainstorm different cases and plots, as well as opportunities for specific characters, such as the ever-popular detectives Flynn and Provenza. Next up is "breaking a story," which involves developing a specific episode's plot and filling it in with the twists, turns and character arcs needed for a full show.

No original series in cable history has been as popular as THE CLOSER. TNT's award-winning drama stars Sedgwick as CIA-trained Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, a former Atlanta detective brought to Los Angeles to head a special LAPD unit charged with cracking sensitive, high-profile murder cases. This top-notch investigator is highly skilled at diving into a case, leaving no stone unturned as she pinpoints a suspect and draws a confession. Sedgwick is joined on THE CLOSER by the show's two-time, Screen Actors Guild Award-nominated ensemble cast: Jon Tenney, J.K. Simmons, Corey Reynolds, Robert Gossett, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Raymond Cruz, Michael Paul Chan and Gina Ravera.

THE CLOSER has amazed the cable industry with its ability to build its audience each season. THE CLOSER started its third season last year with ad-supported cable's largest audience ever for a scripted series telecast, a record the show had previously set with the prior two seasons' premieres. THE CLOSER broke that record yet again when it drew nearly 10 million viewers for its summer finale last September.

THE CLOSER comes to TNT from The Shephard/Robin Company, in association with Warner Bros. Television, and is executive-produced by Greer Shephard (Nip/Tuck, The D.A.), Michael M. Robin (Nip/Tuck, The D.A., NYPD Blue) and James Duff (The D.A., The Agency) and produced by Andrew J. Sacks (The D.A, Adaptation, Two Soldiers), with Kyra Sedgwick also serving as producer. Gil Garcetti, Los Angeles district attorney from 1992 to 2000, is a consulting producer.

Turner Network Television (TNT), television's destination for drama and one of cable's top-rated networks, offers original movies and series, including the acclaimed and highly popular detective drama The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick; Saving Grace, starring Holly Hunter; Raising the Bar, starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek; and Leverage, starring Timothy Hutton. TNT is also home to powerful one-hour dramas, such as Bones, Cold Case, Law & Order, Without a Trace, ER and Charmed; broadcast premiere movies; compelling prime-time specials, such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards; and championship sports coverage, including NASCAR and the NBA. TNT is available in high-definition.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news, entertainment, animation and young adult media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world.
