Development Update: Wednesday, June 25
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION (ABC) - Relativity Media has acquired reality house Tom Forman Productions in a three-year deal valued in the $10 million-$15 million range. The pact will give Forman and company full control over its newly launched alternative arm, Relativity Real, with Forman himself serving as CEO. Foreman was previously based at CBS Paramount Network Television. In addition, Relativity has opened up a foreign sales division to sell the new company's formats and series internationally.

INSEPARABLE (FOX) - Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica") and newcomer Morgan Turner have both joined the cast of the drama pilot, a modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale about a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist (Lloyd Owen) with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal. She'll play Mason Wicks, who's described via the casting notice as follows: "30s, "sharp heels, sharper mind, wrapped in a cloak of business casual that belies a wild heart," Wicks is a brilliant police department psychologist. Though all business on the surface, she has a deep, dark attraction to the underbelly of life and the dangerous and often alluring men to be found there. Throughout our series, Wicks will treat and counsel Lambreaux at the insistence of their Captain, helping him to work through the many new psychological and emotional issues he's confronting. And when she eventually discovers that he is living a double life, Wicks will attempt to help him reintegrate his two personalities. Perhaps not surprisingly, Clyde will have other ideas. His goal will be to attempt to seduce Wicks, and as she finds herself becoming more and more attracted to this electrifying man, she may ultimately find herself in a love triangle - with ONE person." Helfer's casting is the result of a talent holding deal the actress inked with the network earlier this year. As for Turner, she'll play Emily Lambreaux: "7-10 (going on 40), Lambreaux's daughter, very wise and maternal, and extremely protective of her father. She adores Lambreaux, and is fearful that a brewing custody battle between her parents could result in her never being allowed to see him again. We will quickly discover that Emily is also the only person (initially) who knows the two sides of the man, and has a happy, healthy relationship with both. Emily loves Lambreaux for his strength and support, and adores Clyde for his fun and his recklessness. Aware of the issues and possible ramifications of her father's 'other way,' she assures Lambreaux that she will never tell her mother about his secret." Shaun Cassidy is behind the hour, which is set up at ABC Studios.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT (NBC) - "One Tree Hill" co-star Michaela McManus is set to join the cast of the series next season. She'll play the show's new assistant district attorney where she'll fill the void left by departing cast member Diane Neal. Details about her character however have yet to be released.

THEM (FOX) - David Alpert, Lawrence Mattis and David Engel have inked a one-year deal with Sony Pictures Television. The pact, which has an option for a second year, gives the studio exclusive access to the trio's library of properties as well as any of its internal development via their Circle of Confusion Productions banner. Among their most recent efforts are the pilots "Ultra" for CBS, starring a pre-"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Lena Headey, and "Them" for FOX.
