CMT HONORS "THE KING" WITH A WEEK OF PROGRAMMING BEGINNING AUGUST 11
CMT Premieres the Concert Special ELVIS: VIVA LAS VEGAS and Features Elvis Week 2008 Events on CMT INSIDER and CMT TOP 20 COUNTDOWN
NASHVILLE � August 5, 2008 � Thirty-one years after Elvis Presley's passing, CMT is honoring the King with a week of programming that pays homage to the musical legend, including a new special and classic favorites. To kick off "Elvis Week," CMT will premiere ELVIS: VIVA LAS VEGAS on Monday, August 11 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT, the day before the special is available exclusively through Wal-Mart stores and Sam's Club, on August 12, 2008 on DVD and hi-definition Blue-ray for $10.
ELVIS: VIVA LAS VEGAS, hosted by Emmy award winning broadcast journalist Elizabeth Vargas, incorporates rarely seen footage of Elvis performing in Las Vegas with revealing interviews from those closest to him. The special also features performances by some of today's top recording artists singing Elvis classics, including Toby Keith and Joe Perry performing "Mystery Train," Faith Hill performing the gospel classic "Peace in the Valley," and Three 6 Mafia performing "In the Ghetto."
"Elvis Week" continues on CMT with exclusive coverage from Elvis Week 2008 events held in Memphis, Tenn., including the ELVIS: VIVA LAS VEGAS launch party, on CMT's TOP 20 COUNTDOWN and CMT INSIDER. Concluding the week, CMT will air the classic film "Jailhouse Rock," on Saturday, August 16 at 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., ET/PT.
