For a Chance to Win Your Own "Virtual Boyfriend"
SOAPnet Celebrates Valentine Season with "Sugar-Free Valentine's," featuring six weeks of programming dedicated to all the fun of Valentine's Day, without the gooey stuff. This event will incorporate romance-themed entertainment, including a new original series, stunts, interstitials and movies from January 4 through February 14.
As a cornerstone of the programming event, SOAPnet will premiere "Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call," a new relationship series of six one-hour episodes. Comedian and author Greg Behrendt, a consultant on "Sex and the City" and co-author of the bestselling book, "He's Just Not That Into You" (now a major motion picture set to hit theaters on February 6, 2009), will address one couple's major issues each week by using his knowledge of relationships to give them the tools to fix theirs. Produced by Avalon Television, the reality series will air on SOAPnet on Thursday's at 11:00 p.m., ET/PT beginning January 8.
Behrendt will also host a series of Valentine-themed interstitials throughout the event, providing his no-nonsense approach to relationships. For example, when thinking of gifts, the three C's he recommends men focus on should not be cut, clarity and color, but rather these three, caring, communicating and cleaning. "Never underestimate the awesome power of a man willing to do housework."
Starting January 4, fans can also join in the fun by entering the "Best Worst Date Contest." The road to true love is paved with potholes, and there's nothing better than trading dating horror stories with your girlfriends. Think your story is the best of the worst? Entrants can log-on to soapnet.com and spill the dirt. The winner will receive a virtual boyfriend for a year, which comes with deliveries like flowers, candy and jewelry all year long. Plus, compliments will be sent to their cell phone and maybe even a mix CD or two. Imagine all the perks of having an incredible man in your life without having to wonder if he'll call or deal with dirty socks!
Additionally SOAPnet will also air four weeks of romance-themed movies, including the premiere of "Nadine" on Sunday, January 25 (10:00 PM ET/PT). Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger star in this thriller about a woman who must go on the run with her estranged husband after she inadvertently witnesses a murder.
"Lone Star State of Mind" will premiere on SOAPnet on Sunday, February 8 (10:00 PM ET/PT), starring Joshua Jackson, Jaime King, John Mellencamp, DJ Qualls and Thomas Haden Church. A young couple's dream of starting a new life in LA is derailed by a dim-witted cousin and an ex con. They find themselves in a mess bigger than the state of Texas and have only two days to straighten things out.
