Starz Entertainment Caters to Hollywood With Start of Production on 'Party Down'

Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Lizzy Caplan Hired To 'Serve' Tinseltown In New Original Series

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Dec. 17 -- A cast of some of the brightest young acting talent has begun to "Party Down," and the Hollywood catering business will never be the same. Production has started in Los Angeles on "Party Down," the new original series from Starz Entertainment, in association with its television production sibling Starz Media. This is the first series Starz Media is producing for Starz.

"Party Down" follows a Los Angeles catering team - a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their "big break." Each episode of this half-hour comedy finds the hapless catering team working a new event - and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.

Starz has tapped Ken Marino ("Veronica Mars," Role Models), Adam Scott ("Tell Me You Love Me," Step Brothers), Jane Lynch (Role Models, The 40 Year Old Virgin), Martin Starr (Knocked Up, "Freaks and Geeks), Ryan Hansen ("Veronica Mars," Friday the 13th 2009) and Lizzy Caplan ("True Blood," Cloverfield) to star in the project from creator Rob Thomas ("Veronica Mars," "Cupid"). The show will air in March as a companion to the returning comedy series "Head Case," starring Alexandra Wentworth.

The series is created and executive produced by Rob Thomas, along with John Enbom, Paul Rudd and Dan Etheridge. Enbom also serves as show runner. Co-executive producers are Jennifer Gwartz and Danielle Stokdyk. Jennifer Dugan will produce the series. William J. Hamm, executive vice president, originals productions, Starz Media, will oversee production.

"'Party Down' is going to be a terrific addition to our originals lineup and we're pleased to have it as our first in-house collaboration with Starz Media," said Stephan Shelanski, executive vice president programming, Starz Entertainment. "You can't ask for anything better than to have the powerhouse team of Rob Thomas and Paul Rudd (Role Models, Knocked Up) attached as executive producers, as well as a highly talented cast."

"Party Down" is the latest addition to Starz' original programming lineup. The channel's first dramatic series, "Crash," a co-production with Lionsgate, premiered October 17. Starz also features "Starz Inside," a series featuring original specials examining people, trends and culture in movie entertainment hosted by film critic Richard Roeper.

Starz Entertainment, LLC, is a premium movie service provider operating in the United States.
