TLC Celebrates the Most Unique Love Stories with Three Extraordinary Wedding Events
January 9, 2009
(Los Angeles, Ca.) Starting January 25, TLC celebrates exceptional love stories while presenting three very unique wedding events the oldest son of 18 children getting married and leaving the nest, three very deserving couples finally getting their dream wedding after facing obstacles and tribulations, and the world's heaviest man finding a life-long mate who sees past his size.
On January 25, TLC presents a double dose of wedded bliss with A VERY DUGGAR WEDDING at 9pm ET/PT and SAY YES TO THE DRESS: ULTIMATE WEDDING EDITION at 10pm ET/PT.
A VERY DUGGAR WEDDING highlights the union of the oldest Duggar child, Josh, and his fiance Anna. As the Duggar family (from the hit show 17 KIDS AND COUNTING) shares this emotional celebration, viewers witness how important their faith is to them, as father Jim Bob has a heart to heart with his first born the night before the big day, discussing the importance of marriage, commitment, and intimacy. During the ceremony, Josh sings a song of loyalty to his new wife, and because of the family's conservative values, viewers will also see Josh and Anna experience their first kiss ever with each other, as they are finally pronounced husband and wife.
SAY YES TO THE DRESS: ULTIMATE WEDDING EDITION is a very special installment of the hit series, as it goes beyond helping brides to find their perfect dress; this hour provides three couples the guidance and resources to help plan their perfect wedding. With hardships including the devastation of Hurricane Ike and being deployed to Iraq, these couples are stronger than ever and are ready to walk down the aisle. One couple in particular facing financial woes and infertility issues gets to experience a wedding ceremony unlike any other, with a little help from renowned bridal salon Kleinfeld in NY.
Finally, on February 15, the highly anticipated WORLD'S HEAVIEST MAN GETS MARRIED will premiere at 8 pm ET/PT. Throughout the hour, viewers learn how Manuel Uribe's extraordinary love story began. After being bed-bound for eight years, Manuel has to plan all the wedding details from his bed while managing the mass media frenzy surrounding him and his bride-to-be. Additionally, doctors have to continuously monitor Manuel to ensure he is healthy enough to leave the house and get married, making this outing only his fourth in eight years.
"These wedding specials feature fascinating characters sharing intimate moments in their lives," states Eileen O'Neill, President and General Manager of TLC. "These shows are emblematic of TLC's strong focus on the celebration of life and diversity."
