Last month, US Airways Flight 1549 made headlines after a bird strike took out both of its engines, forcing now legendary pilot Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger and his crew to make an emergency crash landing onto the Hudson River. The most in-depth look to date of the events as they unfolded - what went wrong, how passengers reacted, and the pilot's quick response that ultimately saved the lives of all 155 passengers and crew members on board - is detailed in HUDSON PLANE CRASH � WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. This hour-long special premieres Wednesday, March 4 at 10PM ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

Featuring exclusive live interviews with passengers, rescuers, eyewitnesses and aviation experts, HUDSON PLANE CRASH � WHAT REALLY HAPPENED explores the dramatic crash and the rescue effort that followed. The special includes emotional interviews and candid first-hand accounts of the crash from several passengers and members of the crew. It also features computer-generated images that simulate the crash and reveal the scale of Captain Sullenberger's aviation feat, and how a few degrees difference in his landing angle could have resulted in a catastrophically different ending.

January 15, 2009 was a typical freezing-cold New York winter day. The passengers and crew of US Airways Flight 1549 prepared for a flight to North Carolina from New York's LaGuardia International Airport. But shortly after take-off, Captain Sullenberger was forced to make decisions that meant the difference between life and death for the passengers and crew.

At 3200 feet, the airbus was flying too low and too slow to make it back to LaGuardia. Their only hope was the Hudson River, congested with boat traffic and surrounded by skyscrapers. Without explanation, Captain Sullenberger asked his passengers to "brace for impact," as he made the miraculous landing on the Hudson. As water rushed into the plane, passengers and crew took refuge on the wings and in rafts while Captain Sullenberger searched the plane twice for any remaining passengers.
