LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Discovery Channel's "The Detonators" and Animal Planet's "Dark Days in Monkey City" have both been given the hook while Spike TV's "Toughest Cowboy" is getting a new home and TLC's "Heli-loggers" is returning after a two week break.
Here's a breakdown of the latest on the cable front going into the weekend:
-- "Heli-loggers" is set to rejoin TLC's Thursday lineup on March 19, where it will reassume the 10:00/9:00c slot. The cable channel quietly pulled the series last month in favor of the specials "David Blaine - Street Magic" on March 5 and "Stop Shouting at Me!" on March 12.
-- Animal Planet's "Monkey City" is out after just two weeks. The series opened on February 24 at 10:00/9:00c with back-to-back episodes followed by another back-to-back airing on March 3. It's not clear when - or if - the nine remaining installments of its 13-episode order will air. Various specials will assume the Tuesday, 10:00/9:00c slot going forward.
-- Discovery's "Detonators" likewise is getting the boot after five airings. The series, which aired Wednesdays at 8:00/7:00c, still has eight episodes yet to air. Repeats of "Mythbusters" will fill in the hour until "Time Warp" returns for its second season next month.
-- And finally, Spike TV will shift "Cowboy" to Wednesdays at 11:00/10:00c for its last three episodes of the season. The series started off in the Thursday, 11:00/10:00c slot after "TNA Impact!" before making the move this week.
