CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (CBS) - Franchise creator Anthony Zuiker has signed a two-year, first-look deal with CBS Television Studios. The pact gives the studio first crack at any of his Dare to Pass banner's output, both scripted and unscripted, with a focus on multi-platform development. Matthew Weinberg serves as president of production for the company with Orlin Dobreff as VP. Separately, Zuiker's first "digi-novel," a book supplemented with three-minute "bridge" videos, "Level 26: Dark Origins," will be released on September 8.
THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE (CBS) - Lifetime's purchase of the show's off-network rights is reportedly valued at $350,000 per episode. Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution will also receive one and a half minutes of the show's ad time for national sales. Previously, the company cleared the series on local stations covering more than 85% of country. Both Lifetime and the participating stations will begin airing repeats of the series in the fall of 2010.
UNTITLED GREG MALINS/HARLAN COBEN PROJECT (FOX, New!) - "How I Met Your Mother" executive producer Greg Malins is set to team with best-selling novelist Harlan Coben for a new drama about "a larger-than-life former private eye who teaches a college criminology class." Said larger-than-life-ness however is the result of "a bullet wound to the head that made him lose his inhibitions." The 20th Century Fox Television-based hour has a script commitment with a penalty attached should it not go to pilot.
