THE BUSINESS OF FALLING IN LOVE (ABC Family, New!) - Hilary Duff is set to topline a small screen take on Daniella Brodsky's novel "Diary of a Working Girl." The romantic comedy features Duff as "a fashion reporter who goes undercover in the business world in the hopes of finding love while writing an article about dating men in suits." Gil Junger ("10 Things I Hate About You") is helming the project from a script by Mike Horowitz ("Burn Notice") with Frank Von Zerneck, Robert Sertner, Ira Pincus, Jessica Horowitz and Duff herself executive producing. No production start date was given.

MIAMI TRAUMA (CBS) - Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield") has joined the cast of the midseason drama, about a team of trauma surgeons in Miami. He'll play Christopher Deleo, "a talented, charming and fiercely competitive surgeon with a healthy ego." He'll take over for Richard Coyle who played said role in the original pilot. As for Vogel, the actor toplined ABC's drama pilot "Empire State" this past development season.

RIDE ALONG (FOX, New!) - The ever-busy Shawn Ryan has landed a put pilot order for a drama about police officers in Chicago. The project, which plans to film in the Windy City, will track three groups of police officers, including a Polish-American cop who plays up his heritage and the female chief of police. Ryan, a native of nearby Rockford, Illinois, is set to pen and executive produce the hour, which is set up at 20th Century Fox Television.

UNTITLED ALIEN INVASION PROJECT (TNT) - Drew Roy ("iCarly") and Peter Shinkoda ("The Hole") have each landed roles on the drama pilot, about a group struggling against an occupying alien force. Shinkoda will play the second-in-command to Noah Wyle's character, "a quiet and competent commando on the battlefield." Roy's role however wasn't specified. Jessy Schram, Maxim Knight, Moon Bloodgood and Seychelle Gabriel also star in the DreamWorks Television-based hour, which comes from writer Robert Rodat and executive producer Steven Spielberg.
