Shopping List Outlines All Ingredients Necessary
To Participate in the Live Nationwide Event
Comedian Cedric the Entertainer, actress Alyson Hannigan and Grammy Award-winning artist LeAnn Rimes will strap on their aprons and step up to the stovetop as they join Chef Gordon Ramsay in-studio for GORDON RAMSAY: COOKALONG LIVE Tuesday, Dec. 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. During the live one-hour special, Chef Ramsay will guide America and his special celebrity guests through step-by-step instructions on how to cook three fresh and easy dishes, including Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp, Chili Peppers and Tomatoes appetizer; Steak Diane with Saut�ed Potatoes and Peas as the main course; and Quick Tiramisu for dessert.
As a reminder, participants will need to be armed with all the ingredients before the COOKALONG, so Chef Ramsay has provided this shopping list to assist in preparation for the cooking event:
SHOPPING LIST (Serves 4)
PRODUCE
· 1 red chili pepper
· 5 large garlic cloves, peeled
· 1 large tomato (heirloom, beefsteak or a few smaller roma tomatoes)
· 1 lemon
· Small handful of fresh basil leaves
· 3 scallions
· 4 ounces crimini mushrooms, cleaned (can also use button mushrooms instead)
· 3 shallots, peeled
· Small handful of flat-leaf parsley
· 3 small sprigs of rosemary
· 1 pound small waxy potatoes (Yukon Gold or any small potato, cut in half)
· 2 cups peas, defrosted if using frozen
MEAT/FISH
· 1/2 pound medium-size raw, peeled shrimps
· 4 small sirloin steaks (approx. 7 ounces each)
DAIRY
· 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
· 1 cup mascarpone
· 2 1/2 tablespoons salted butter
PASTA/BREAD
· 7 ounces angel hair pasta
· 4 Italian Ladyfingers, or Savoiardi
BAKING
· 1/4 cup powdered sugar
· 1 vanilla bean, or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
· Piece of chocolate (to grate as garnish)
LIQUOR/COFFEE
· 4 tablespoons Marsala, or sweet dessert wine such as Vin Santo
· 1/4 cup brandy or cognac
· 1/4 cup white wine
· 1 cup cold strong coffee
CONDIMENTS
· Salt and freshly ground black pepper
· Olive oil
· Extra virgin olive oil
· 1-2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, to taste
· 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
NOTE: You will need to have a pot of boiling water ready for your pasta at the start of the show.
Cedric the Entertainer is best known for his crowd-pleasing roles in such hit films as "Barbershop," "Be Cool," "Madagascar," "Intolerable Cruelty" and Spike Lee's "The Original Kings of Comedy." He will next be seen in "All's Faire in Love" opposite Christina Ricci. Cedric has celebrated many career successes spanning television, live performances and film. Some notable accolades include nabbing the AFTRA Award of Excellence in Television Programming for his television series "Cedric the Entertainer Presents," as well as a record-breaking four consecutive NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of the lovable "Coach Cedric Robinson" on the top-rated "The Steve Harvey Show," which ran for six seasons. In November 2008, Cedric made his Broadway debut in David Mamet's "American Buffalo." Now helming his own production company, A Bird and a Bear Entertainment, Cedric will develop and produce feature films. In the field of philanthropy, Cedric founded The Cedric the Entertainer Charitable Foundation, which provides scholarships and outreach programs to enhance the lives of inner-city youth and their families in his hometown of St. Louis, MO. He plans to extend the foundation nationally.
Alyson Hannigan has captivated audiences in both television and film. She currently stars on the Emmy-nominated comedy series "How I Met Your Mother," which centers around a group of best friends in their 20s who are living in New York and searching for love. Prior to that, Hannigan starred as "Willow Rosenberg" in Joss Whedon's hugely popular "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and she also guest-starred on a number of popular television shows, including "Picket Fences" and "Roseanne." Hannigan made her breakthrough performance at the age of 13 in "My Stepmother Is an Alien" opposite Dan Aykroyd and Kim Basinger. Her film credits include "American Pie," "American Pie 2," "American Wedding," "Date Movie" opposite Fred Willard and Jennifer Coolidge, "Dead Man on Campus" and "Boys and Girls." Born in Washington D.C., Hannigan grew up in Atlanta and currently resides in Los Angeles.
LeAnn Rimes has sold more than 37 million albums, won two Grammys, three Academy of Country Music Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards. Rimes is the youngest recipient of a Grammy and the first country recording artist to win in the Best New Artist category. Her current album, "Family," marks the first time Rimes has written or co-written every song on an album. She recently won the CMT Award for Collaborative Video of the Year with Bon Jovi and the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award for her song "Ready for a Miracle." Rimes has scored numerous hit singles in her career, including "Can't Fight the Moonlight," which went to No. 1 in 11 countries and "How Do I Live," the second-longest charting song ever on the Billboard Hot 100. Rimes ventured into acting when she starred in the television movies "Northern Nights" and "Holiday In Your Heart." She also guest-starred on the long-running series "American Dreams" and in an episode of "Days of Our Lives." An accomplished author, Rimes has written two children's books, "Jag" and "Jag's New Friend"; a novel, "Holiday In Your Heart"; and an inspirational book, "What I Cannot Change." Rimes is a long-time supporter of charity organizations, including The National Psoriasis Foundation, The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes and Children's Miracle Network. She is currently in the studio working on her new album, which is due out in summer 2010.
