LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7, 2010 - 2011 will see an impressive roster of award-winning talent come to HBO as HBO Films and HBO Miniseries present two new films and a much anticipated miniseries, and production starts in February on a period biopic in San Francisco. Among their illustrious awards, the actors and filmmakers associated with these projects have garnered four Oscars(R) and 28 Oscar(R) nominations, eight Golden Globes and 38 Golden Globe nominations, and 13 Emmys(R) and 49 Emmy(R) nominations, not to mention recognition from such guilds as SAG, DGA, PGA and WGA.

"It is with extreme pride that we welcome such an array of award-winning actors and filmmakers to HBO," says HBO Films president Len Amato. "HBO Films has long been the home for the kind of pedigreed projects we have in our upcoming slate and we look forward to sharing these extraordinary productions - THE SUNSET LIMITED, CINEMA VERITE and HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN - with our audiences."

"We are particularly proud of the filmmakers who have come together around MILDRED PIERCE," says Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries. "Todd Haynes, Kate Winslet and the rest of the team are creating a miniseries in five parts that is at once lush, appealing and searingly resonant in the current American economic landscape."

Academy Award(R) winner Tommy Lee Jones ("No Country for Old Men," "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada") and Academy Award(R) nominee Samuel L. Jackson ("Mother and Child," "The Other Guys") will star in HBO Films' THE SUNSET LIMITED, based on the play of the same name by eminent Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Cormac McCarthy ("The Road," "All the Pretty Horses," "The Crossing"). Directed and executive produced by Jones from a script by McCarthy, THE SUNSET LIMITED is a searing two-character drama that tells the story of a stranger who saves another man from throwing himself in front of the Sunset Limited, a Harlem subway train. Secluded in the apartment of the rescuer, the two men from vastly different backgrounds engage in an intense exchange of ideologies as they debate the value of their existence. THE SUNSET LIMITED, produced by Barbara Hall ("Milk," "Good Night, and Good Luck"), will debut on HBO in Feb. 2011.

Oscar(R) and Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet ("Revolutionary Road," "The Reader") stars in the title role of the HBO Miniseries presentation MILDRED PIERCE, along with SAG Award nominee Guy Pearce ("The Hurt Locker," "Memento"), Golden Globe nominee Evan Rachel Wood ("The Wrestler," HBO's "True Blood"), Gotham Award winner Bran O'Byrne ("Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," "FlashForward"), SAG Award nominee James LeGros ("Skateland," "Mercy"), Oscar(R) nominee Melissa Leo ("Frozen River," HBO's "Treme"), Oscar(R) and Golden Globe nominee and Emmy(R) winner Mare Winningham ("George Wallace," "Georgia") and Golden Globe and Emmy(R) nominee Hope Davis (HBO's "The Special Relationship" and "In Treatment") also star. Directed by Oscar(R), Golden Globe and WGA nominee Todd Haynes ("I'm Not There," "Far from Heaven") from a script by Haynes and Jon Raymond, MILDRED PIERCE is the epic story of a proud single mother struggling to earn her daughter's love during the Great Depression in middle-class Los Angeles.

The five-part miniseries, produced in association with MGM, will follow the story laid out by James M. Cain in his 1941 novel of the same name. Emmy(R) nominees Christine Vachon ("I'm Not There," HBO's "Mrs. Harris") and Pam Koffler (HBO's "Mrs. Harris" and "The Notorious Bettie Page"), John Wells ("Southland," "The Company Men") and Todd Haynes executive produce; two-time Emmy(R) winner Ilene Landress (HBO's "The Sopranos") co-executive produces. MILDRED PIERCE will debut in March 2011.

Oscar(R), Golden Globe and Emmy(R) nominee Diane Lane ("Secretariat," "Unfaithful"), Oscar(R) and Golden Globe winner Tim Robbins ("Mystic River," "Dead Man Walking") and Golden Globe and Emmy(R) winner James Gandolfini ("Where the Wild Things Are," HBO's "The Sopranos") star in CINEMA VERITE, a film by Oscar(R) nominees Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (HBO's "American Splendor"). The HBO Films presentation takes a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking documentary "An American Family," which chronicled the lives of the Louds in the early 1970s and catapulted the Santa Barbara family to notoriety in the creation of a new television genre - the reality TV series. The film also stars SAG cptfc Award nominee Patrick Fugit ("Almost Famous"), Lolita Davidovich ("Blaze," "Gods and Monsters"), Oscar(R) and Golden Globe nominee and SAG Award winner Kathleen Quinlan ("Apollo 13," "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden"), Shanna Collins ("Swingtown," "In My Sleep") and Thomas Dekker ("A Nightmare on Elm Street," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"). Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini direct from a screenplay by David Seltzer ("The Omen," "Bird on a Wire"). Five-time Emmy(R) nominee Gavin Polone (HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm") and Zanne Devine ("House of D," "A Lot Like Love") executive produce; Karyn McCarthy ("Whip It") produces. CINEMA VERITE will debut on HBO in 2011.

Academy Award(R) and three-time Golden Globe winner Nicole Kidman ("The Hours," "Moulin Rouge," "To Die For") and Academy Award(R) nominee and Golden Globe winner Clive Owen ("Closer," "Children of Men," "Inside Man") star in HBO Films' HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN. Directed by Academy Award(R) nominee Philip Kaufman ("The Unbearable Lightness of Being," "The Right Stuff") from a script by Jerry Stahl ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Permanent Midnight") and Barbara Turner ("Pollock," "Georgia"), HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN follows the tumultuous romance and subsequent marriage between literary master Ernest Hemingway and up-and-coming war correspondent, Martha Gellhorn, taking them to the Spanish Civil War and beyond. As she grew in reputation and stature, Gellhorn stood toe-to-toe with Hemingway, putting his famous bravado and iconic style to the test. Executive produced by Emmy(R) nominees James Gandolfini (HBO's "Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq"), Alex Ryan (HBO's "Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq") and Barbara Turner ("The War Between the Tates"); Peter Kaufman ("Quills," "Henry and June") and Philip Kaufman, Nancy Sanders ("Huff") and Mark Armstrong co-executive produce. Trish Hofmann ("Notorious," "The New World") produces. Filming will begin in and around San Francisco in Feb. 2011 for 2012 debut on HBO.
