OXYGEN'S HIT SERIES "SNAPPED" RETURNS WITH MORE MYSTERY AND SUPER-SIZED INVESTIGATIONS ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 22 AT 10PM ET/PT

Season to Include Three "Snapped: Investigates" Unveiling a Deeper Look into Past Fan Favorite Cases with Never Before Seen Footage

New York - August 18, 2010 - A deadly new season of "Snapped" begins featuring new episodes, as well as investigative specials that reopen old cases and take another look at the most shocking mysteries of seasons past. Premiering Sunday, August 22 at 10PM ET/PT, the new season begins with a young love affair that takes a killer turn resulting in a body count that stuns a small town. Each chilling installment offers gritty details, interviews and a deeper look into the minds of the women who allegedly snapped.

In this season's premiere episode, young love tears a family apart. In a quiet suburb outside Knoxville, Tennessee, fifteen year old Amanda McGhee's relationship with her older boyfriend, Andrew Mann, causes contention with her father resulting in claims of parental abuse and a series of runaway attempts. After forbidding Mann to see their daughter, Terry and Alisa McGhee think that the worst has passed, but little do they know that the real nightmare is waiting around the corner. When extended family visits the McGhees' house, they are welcomed by Terry and Alisa's cold bodies, but Amanda McGhee is nowhere to be found. Could she be alive? Abducted? Or worse? A tip from Amanda's friend leads the police to discover the hiding place of Amanda and her boyfriend, but could these star-crossed lovers be responsible for Amanda's parents' brutal demise?

Other brand new episodes include three special super-sized investigations that take another look into fan's favorite mysteries providing new interviews, evidence and suspects (all times are 10pm ET/PT):

Sunday, September 5: Yesenia Patino (Phoenix, AZ)

A businessman's secret affair with a transsexual ends with murder.

Sunday, October 17: Lynn Turner (Atlanta, GA)

Two young men die miles and years apart - but it's what they have in common that draws the attention of homicide detectives.

Sunday, November 28: Donna Fryman (Louisville, KY)

When an up-and-coming designer is killed, his ex-wife is accused of murder, but was it self defense?

"Snapped" features everyday average moms, wives and girlfriends who are accused of committing murder. Did they really do it? And if so, why? Was it a cheating spouse, years of constant abuse or that dirty dish in the sink? Whatever the situation, the women share a common bond--they all allegedly SNAPPED!

For the "Snapped" super fan www.oxygen.com has all new photos, bonus videos and message boards for fans to chat and discuss each episode.
