BURBANK, Calif. - January 24, 2011 - Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces the studio's expansion into social games with the launch of Gossip Girl: Social Climbing, a new game playable on Facebook. Based on the popular Warner Bros. Television series Gossip Girl airing Mondays 9/8c on The CW Network and returning with all-new episodes on January 24 the game is free and accessible for everyone to play.

"We recognize Facebook is a very important, growing platform for games, and for our first step in the space we have made a fun game for the hugely popular franchise Gossip Girl," said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Working with Warner Bros. Television, we are creating new categories of social games with built-in appeal to their extensive fan base."

"After four seasons, more than 80 episodes and close to eight million Facebook fans, Gossip Girl remains a pop culture phenomenon. Fans will relish the Gossip Girl: Social Climbing game play, where they earn rewards by attending virtual fashion shows, sample sales, club openings and classic events like the Assassin Party and Sweetheart Ball with their favorite characters, including Blair, Serena, Chuck and Nate," said Lisa Gregorian, Chief Marketing Officer, Warner Bros. Television Group. "I just went to my closet and picked an outfit for tonight's Club Opening at Ransom!!!"

In Gossip Girl: Social Climbing, developed by Arkadium, fans can participate in the scandalous lives of privileged young adults in New York City. Gamers can accomplish social agenda missions such as attending parties with friends, flirting with a mysterious stranger, and unleashing one's wild side to get noticed by "You know who"- be careful though, push it too far and social climbers might get kicked out of the event. Players can also purchase in-game items to boost their progress and complete higher level missions.

Join the thousands of players - and growing - who are climbing the virtual social ladder and living out the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite in Gossip Girl: Social Climbing. About Gossip Girl

High society and low blows are in style with Gossip Girl, a one-hour drama about the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. Based on the best-selling series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, the drama is fueled by an all-knowing blogger Gossip Girl who, via constant, avidly read text messages and online updates, is determined to uncover and share every scandal possible on Manhattan's Upper East Side. And in this world, where gossip rules and affluent young people find themselves with the money, access and appetite to explore all the temptations New York City has to offer, you can be sure that romance, scheming and secrets can't be far behind. Keeping track of the shifting friendships, jealousies and turmoil in this wealthy and complex world isn't easy; that's why there's Gossip Girl.

Starring Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr, with Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle, Gossip Girl was developed for television by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage, who also serve as executive producers of the series with Leslie Morgenstein, Bob Levy and Joshua Safran.
