Discovery Channel Appoints Nancy Daniels Executive Vice President, Production and Development

(Silver Spring, Md. ) Clark Bunting, President & GM of Discovery Channel, today announced the Nancy Daniels has been named Executive Vice President, Production and Development, Discovery Channel. Based in Los Angeles, Daniels will report to Bunting.
"Nancy's a brilliant television executive, and one of the sharpest nonfiction storytellers in our industry," said Bunting. "Having hired her at Discovery Studios, I know she's able to lead a dynamic and effective team while driving strong programming results, like she did with the comeback of American Chopper. It'll be great having her on the Discovery Channel team."
Daniels has served as Senior Vice President, Production and Development for TLC since 2008, overseeing all execution for the channel's programming. Since joining TLC in August 2008, Daniels has overseen the launch of such new diverse hits as CAKE BOSS, THE LITTLE COUPLE, the POLICEWOMEN franchise, SISTER WIVES, and SARAH PALIN'S ALASKA. At the same time, she's guided the strength and resurgence of TLC's long running hits, WHAT NOT TO WEAR, SAY YES TO THE DRESS, and LA INK. She joined Discovery Communications in 2007 as Vice President of Development and Production for Discovery Studios-West Coast, and was subsequently elevated to Senior Vice President.

Prior to joining Discovery Communications, Daniels was at CBS where she served as Vice President of Alternative Series Development. In this role, she worked on CBS's key reality properties including SURVIVOR, multiple Emmy Award-winner THE AMAZING RACE, BIG BROTHER, ROCK STAR and others. Prior to working at CBS, Daniels had an extensive career as a producer in the independent television community.
