April 9 - Helen Mirren Makes Her Hosting Debut With Musical Guest Foo Fighters
New York, NY - March 21, 2011 - SNL springs into April with back-to-back shows starting April 2 with Elton John pulling double duty as host and sharing the musical guest stage with Leon Russell.
Elton John will make his hosting debut on April 2, and return as musical guest with Leon Russell. It will be John's second appearance and first time back to the 8H stage since 1982. John and Russell's latest studio album, "The Union," was released October 19, 2010 to rave reviews.
Academy Award winner Helen Mirren ("The Queen") will make her SNL hosting debut on April 9. Mirren can next be seen alongside Russell Brand in the comedy feature film remake, "Arthur."
The Foo Fighters will make their seventh musical guest appearance alongside Mirren. Their upcoming seventh studio album, "Wasting Light," is due out April 12, while their latest single, "Rope," was ranked number one on Rolling Stone's Hot List. Over the course of their career, the band has won six Grammy Awards, including three for Best Rock Album.
