Development Update: Monday, August 1
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

EASTBOUND & DOWN (HBO) - David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Danny McBride and Matt Reilly's banner Rough House Pictures has inked a one-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. The pact calls for the quartet's company to develop new series projects for the studio, from live action to animated properties. In addition to "Eastbound," Rough House is behind MTV's upcoming comedy "Good Vibes" and the Ving Rhames-led pilot "Black Jack" at Comedy Central.

GOOD CHRISTIAN BELLES (ABC) - Tom Everett Scott ("Southland") is set to recur on the midseason drama, about Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), a former mean girl who is forced to return home to Dallas in disgrace after her marriage ends in scandal. He'll play "a guy who went to high school with the ladies - was a nerd back then, now a multi-millionaire."

LIFESTYLE LEMONAID (HBO, New!) - Rob Riggle is developing a comedy at the pay channel based on Nikki Joel's tell-all blog about her marriage to top WME talent agent Brandt Joel of the same name. Jordon Nardino ("Desperate Housewives") is penning the half-hour with Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson also serving as executive producers. Riggle then would play the husband in the project as the part of a development deal the actor recently signed with the network.

ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - Anastasia Griffith ("Trauma") has scored a role on the fairy tale-themed drama, due on Sunday nights this fall. She'll play the "spoiled and regal" Annette, however no other specifics were given.

THE PLAYBOY CLUB (NBC) - Veteran character actress Jenifer Lewis has joined the cast of the period drama, the show's panel at the TCA Summer Press Tour revealed. She'll play Pearl, the girls' wardrobe chief and de facto den mother, in the hour, which will air on Monday nights this fall.

RINGER (The CW) - Justin Bruening ("Knight Rider") has booked an arc on the Sarah Michelle Gellar-led drama. He'll play Tyler, "a young man who sets his sights on Siobhan aka one of the twin sisters being played by Gellar," beginning with the show's third episode. No other details were given.

UP ALL NIGHT (NBC) - Executive producers Emily Spivey and Lorne Michaels detailed some of the changes in store for the series at its TCA Summer Press Tour panel. Rudolph's Ava and Christina Applegate's Reagan, previously PR executives, will now work on an "Oprah"-esque daytime talk show with Ava as host and Reagan as her producer. Said decision will involve reshooting portions of the pilot.
