Where the Wealthy Dash for Quick Cash in the World's Most Famous Zip Code
Actress Bai Ling Appears In the 30 Minute Special Hoping to Unload Her Vintage Jewelry
Los Angeles, CA - August 26, 2011 - Money doesn't grow on trees... not even in Beverly Hills. Although it's the wealthiest zip code in America, some residents still need to liquidate. That's when they turn to just one person --Yossi Dina -- the owner and proprietor of "The Dina Collection," otherwise known as the Taj Mahal of pawn shops. Premiering Wednesday, September 7th at 10:00pm ET/PT on E!, "E! Entertainment Special: Pawn 90210" takes viewers behind the counter of Yossi's prized pawn shop located in the heart of the worlds most famous zip code, 90210. The 50-year-old former Israeli army captain has been opening his doors to the downtrodden and desperate elite for the past 25 years. Yossi is the ultimate pawn broker that uses his eagle eye and military training to wisely evaluate the value of his customer's items, objects ranging from obscure vintage pieces to the contents of an entire palatial mansion. Because of his reputation as a charming, yet shrewd, businessman, a steel-nerved negotiator and prompt deliverer of cash, Yossi's the guy to know when you find yourself in need of instant liquidity. But whenever hard times hit the rich and famous, their first call is to Yossi. This half-hour special follows the surprising stories of Beverly Hills' rich and famous as they come to Yossi to trade their prized possessions (oftentimes with outrageous stories) in a desperate dash for quick cash.
In "Pawn 90210," an eccentric cast of posh Beverly Hills residents attempt to sell or pawn some truly fabulous items, but not all of them are in dire straits. People also come to Yossi with special requests... some to arrange for a small business loan or some to sell a one-of-a-kind Rodin sculpture. Angela's a widower and divorcee from Bel Air who realizes that her marriages were based more on materialism then on herself. Angela and her "healer" have come up with the plan for Yossi to help sell all of her belongings to cleanse herself of this burden and start a new life. Beautiful, young Manoosh was always spoiled. She lived a glamorous lifestyle that was funded by her wealthy boyfriend, until he broke her heart and split with all his cash. In hopes of jumpstarting her life and opening her own business as a clothing designer, Manoosh comes to Yossi to pawn a family heirloom. Does Yossi like her designs and give her the money she seeks? Or will she be forced to find another Sugar Daddy? Actress Bai Ling, one of Hollywood's most famous eccentrics, is yearning to prove herself as a serious actor in the entertainment industry. She comes to Yossi hoping to sell her vintage Chanel necklace with the plan to use the money to produce her passion film project so she can once and for all show the world her true talent. Is she asking too much? Will Yossi cave to her diva like demands? In this high stakes game of risk and reward, it's Yossi's job to figure out what price is right to protect his bottom dollar, but still making his demanding clientele happy.
