Sneak Peek of New Game Shows Presented on Labor Day Weekend
Popular Syndicated Series "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" Also Joins Network's New Fall Lineup
LOS ANGELES - The Hub, a television network for kids and their families, begins the rollout of its fall programming slate this September with a lineup of game shows for kids and their families, featuring the all-new Hub Original Series "The Game of Life" and "Scrabble Showdown" as well as the addition of the popular syndicated series "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"
During Labor Day weekend, The Hub will reward viewers tuning in to the debut of the second-season premiere of the one-hour "Family Game Night" with a sneak peek at the two new game shows based on Hasbro's beloved games SCRABBLE(R) and THE GAME OF LIFE(R).
Premiering in its regular time slot on Saturday, September 17 (6 p.m. ET), the all-new, half-hour Hub Original Series "The Game of Life" features the iconic car, the clickety-clack of the rainbow-colored spinner, and a road trip bound for roadblocks and obstacles we all encounter on our journey through life. This classic game is reimagined for television for the first time ever in an action-packed family game show following two families who get a chance at the jumbo spinner and a one-of-a-kind car ride through a completely immersive 3-D virtual world. Hosted by comedian Frank Nicotero (co-host of "The Sharon Osbourne Show," "Street Smarts," and Yahoo! TV's "Primetime in No Time"), the show is produced by Hasbro Studios. A special preview of "The Game of Life" will be presented Saturday, September 3 (4 p.m. ET).
The world's most popular word game comes to the television screen with the all-new, half-hour Hub Original Series "Scrabble Showdown." In this all-new, family game show, kids and parents use teamwork to solve a variety of challenging word games and puzzles that test their speed, spelling and vocabulary for points and prizes including the chance to win family vacations to anywhere in the world. Hosted by Justin Willman ("Hubworld," Food Network's "Cupcake Wars") and produced by Hasbro Studios, "Scrabble Showdown" debuts in its regular time slot on Saturday, September 17 (6:30 p.m. ET) with a special sneak peek Saturday, September 3 (4:30 p.m. ET).
From Mark Burnett, the syndicated series "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" is a fun-spirited game show that measures adults' lack of knowledge - as revealed by how much they've forgotten since grammar school. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy hosts the half-hour series as grown-ups find themselves in a classroom setting, revisiting their youth as they tackle subjects they were taught years ago ranging from art to geography and math to social studies. The family game show originally premiered on FOX in 2007 followed by all-new episodes in syndication. Distributed by Twentieth Television, the acquired series will debut on The Hub's schedule with two back-to-back episodes on Monday, September 19 (8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET).
The new family game show additions to the network's schedule build on the successful first season of The Hub Original Series "Family Game Night" and continue the network's strategy of developing quality entertainment as the preeminent kids and family TV destination. As previously announced, the network's popular one-hour family game show "Family Game Night" will have its second-season premiere with two new back-to-back, one-hour episodes Friday, September 2 (7 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET). The series is produced by Hasbro Studios.
