SPARTACUS: SWORDS AND ASHES

HIT STARZ ORIGINAL SERIES SPAWNS NEW TV TIE-IN SERIES FROM TITAN BOOKS.

New York, N.Y - January 13, 2011- Titan Books presents the first in a series of tie-in books meant to accompany the STARZ international smash TV series, "Spartacus." The classic tale of the Republic's most infamous rebel comes alive in the graphic and visceral new series SPARTACUS: SWORDS AND ASHES [Titan Books, January 2012].

Betrayed by the Romans. Forced into slavery. Reborn as a Gladiator. Torn from his homeland and the woman he loves, Spartacus is condemned to the brutal world of the arena where blood and death are primetime entertainment. But not all battles were fought upon the sands. Treachery, corruption, and the allure of sensual pleasures will constantly test Spartacus. To survive, he must become more than a man, more than a gladiator. He must become a legend.

This original novel from the world of Spartacus: Blood and Sand tells a brand-new story of blood, sex and politics set in the uncompromising, visceral world of the arena. The gladiator Spartacus, the new Champion of Capua, flights at the graveside of a rich man who was brutally murdered by his own slaves. Seeing an opportunity, ambitious lanista Quintus Batiatus plots to seize the dead man's estate.

The eagerly awaited new season of the Spartacus franchise, "Spartacus: Vengeance," premieres on STARZ January 27, 2012.
