LIFETIME AND COLLINS AVENUE DEVELOPING NEW DOCUSERIES "ICE MOMS"

Project from DANCE MOMS Partners to See if Coaches and Parents Can Break the Ice in Competitive Figure Skating

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 26, 2012) - Based on the growing popularity of their hit franchise Dance Moms, Lifetime and Collins Avenue are developing Ice Moms, a new docuseries about the world of competitive figure skating. The announcement was made today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming of Lifetime Networks.

The focal point of Ice Moms will be the Dearborn, Michigan-based figure skating coaching duo of Laurie Vigilante and Adam Schmidt, who dutifully rule the rink and train their students who aspire to become champion skaters. With a determined approach to get the very best results from their students, Vigilante and Schmidt often ruffle the feathers of parents who endure frigid relationships with the two coaches who demand from students and parents the practice, precision and perfection required to succeed in the hit sport.

"We've conquered the world of competitive dance with our hit Dance Moms and have great plans to expand the franchise to Miami," said Sharenow. "Now, we're bringing the format to the intensely competitive world of figure skating and revealing the explosive dynamic between the kids, parents and coaches who all want to be the best. We'll show all the blood, sweat and tears it takes to be a champion on ice."

Collins Avenue currently produces Lifetime's hit sensation Dance Moms, which follows children's early steps on the road to stardom and their doting mothers who are there for every rehearsal, performance and bow all under the discerning eyes of notoriously outspoken dance instructor Abby Lee Miller. Earlier this month the series returned for its second season with record viewership, having posted double and triple digit gains across key demographics versus its season one debut and became the program's most watched telecast ever with 2.5 million Total Viewers. With a median age of 37, including an average age of 31 for its season two return, Dance Moms is Lifetime's youngest skewing series. Since its July 2011 premiere, Dance Moms has been viewed by more than 60 million viewers across all platforms, including linear, online and VOD.

Recently, Lifetime picked up six hour-long episodes of Dance Moms: Miami, a new addition to the program's expanding franchise that will look behind the scenes at Miami-based Stars Dance Studio, where the school's owners and renowned contemporary dance instructors Victor Smalley and Angel Armas teach, train and choreograph a diverse group of talented girl and boy dancers as they strive to become the best in the sport of competitive dance and tomorrow's stars.
